im not even sure what the argument is here...kinda strange. i hope the argument isnt that a bike is faster in a straight line, because we all know bikes are faster straight. on the other hand, i hope its not that bikes are faster in turns, because we all ought to know that bikes ARENT faster in the tight twisties

faster than what? that what you need to clarify.. is it faster than a 335 .. and thats what this argument has been about.. YES .. a GSX-R 1000 is faster than a 335 in turns

 

depends on the 335. a bike wont be faster than his 335 since its been modified. the 335 handles pretty well in the turns stock and having the ability to accelerate faster out of the turns than stock will just make it faster. so yes, im saying the car will be faster. obviously, a race bike will be faster than the 335, but since this isnt a race bike OR a race prepped track, the 335 will be able to carry more speed through the turns than just about any bike

When I was on e46fanatics I never saw all these pompous arrogant bmw ***** attitudes. Well except for the occasional "My car is slower than any other car in this segment but in the twisties it's game over." Now that the 3series has two turbos we got people thinking a BIKE is a tricycle and a 335 > a Gixxer 1000. Holy ****. Put down the C-pipe, T-pipe, or whatever pipe you're on. I'm talking especially to hooper, mr. 335 owns on non-race prepped bikes.
335s are nice. VERY NICE. but chill with the bullsh1t. Your 335s are fast. Very mod friendly. Nice car... but it is not some track monster sh1tting out gixxers left and right. I'm guessing a hayabusa is jack **** too. Next up, 335modified turbo vs. modified turbo hayabusa.
oh and btw i'm sure a 335 would pwn on me in the canyons with me on a bike. Why? I'm a damn noob.

In a sense yes, in a sense no. They can be quick w/ minimal mods. I like that about them. I love them actually. But a some drivers in a 335 turn into michael schumacher.

 

i was being facetious.. alluding to the fact that Supra Owners always have an attitude as if they can kill anything on the road.. turbo busa's.. you name it.. so i was saying the 335 is the new Supra

What sucks is that people don't understand how to say something is better than what they have.

My list of cars when I bought my Z in order of preference

E46 M3 CPO
E92 335 (alpine white with cinnamon interior)
350Z
E92 328 (again with the color combo)

M3 wasn't attainable with any level of value, and the new model coming meant it would be as bad for value as buying the new Z. The 335's were too much, I'd be a slave to my payment (still in college FWIW), and the Z just felt more me than the 328 (the 328 needs bigger *****).

End of the day I'd rather have a 335, but its not gods gift to cars, it doesn't touch a GT3, it doesn't touch a GT-R, hell, I'd pick a corvette over a 335 if I was looking for something fast.

 

Your absolutely right, and how refreshing to have some rational thinking in here. And Doug, where did I say bikes are slower than cars? I was mainly saying maybe you are on your bike. Who knows? At least show us all some videos of you riding so we can offer some critique of your skills.There are always exceptions. Any Indy or FI car would absolutely walk away from a motorcycle, so what. In my quiet, stock tired, street sedan, I have no problem keeping up with all the motorcycles that I encounter in the twisties. Call me what you will, just and average driver? Okay, fine with me. Whatever makes you feel good Doug. So I guess every motorcycle rider I encounter week after week here in So Cal just sucks. Okay, well I showed you the videos, and I guess they suck, but where does that leave you? I actually think these 2 riders would beat you on a track, but again, just speculation, not objective. Yes I'm sure your bike is quicker and faster than my car, end of discussion. Never argued that. Would I hesitate racing you through this same road? Absolutely not. Should you blow me away through these canyon roads? Of course you should. But somehow I have my doubts. So basically I know it boils down to driver skill, and somehow you have still failed to prove anything that your good at as far as driving, or riding. At least I can say I keep up with some riders through the turns. At least I can say I have the quickest listed 335i ET for a nonsponsored car, and certainly with the least amount of mods. I have shown you drag strip times at different events showing how I rank even as an underdog. Doug, you havent' shown me crap. You pull out videos from TV shows, etc, etc. Where is your videos. Any trophies, prizes, etc? I'm still waiting.

Doug as far as cars not being investments? We are not talking about making money, we are talking about minimizing financial losses. I guess you are so rich money is no object for you? Well, it does matter to me, and the 335i is a great value. For the price of my 06 M3 ($62K) and my 07 335i ($46K), I could have bought a great "sports car". But does not fit my objectives right now. The 335i is incredibly fun. If I had a Z06, I doubt most 350Z would challenge me in a drag race. But in the 335i, all kinds of 350Zs challenge me. I'm not criticizing them, I love it. Its fun. In fact, while at Buttonwillow in my M3, there was a silver 350Z that was doing pretty good against me. I'm not a brand *****, I have had a 04 325 conv, 05 M3 Conv, 06 M3 SMg, 07 335i, but I also have a 87 Grand National, and have had 2 Corvettes, and all those motorcycles from the RZ350 to the Suzuki 1100. So don't get all your panties all tied in a knot, I wasn't claiming Nissans suck. I would trade my BMW on at GTR in a second, and am seriously considering one. I'm actually a pretty objective guy and would love to see you on the canyon roads Doug. (Although it looks faster with a bike mounted camera, I would still love to see any videos of yours. I'm just a car enthusiast, your cars do interest me. I would love to see some of the nearly stock 350Z's at the track this weekend, its all in fun!

I am not delusional, I am actually delirous because I know you are the super rich, almighty bike racer, (everyone else sucks!). Therefore, I'm very interested to know of some of the motorsport events in which you actually excel in!

 

i don't know if you know this? but it will be snowing this friday.. and i usually don't ride my bike when it snows or when the tempreture is 10 degrees outside.. you want videos.. you will have to wait till it gets to 60 degrees or higher

 

Understandable. Its not very fun riding in the snow! Its actually been 70-80F here lately. Forgot about the weather back East.
