Default Analyze and advise time slip

I've figuratively hit a wall in dragging my 2003 Touring Z and could really use some actionable advise for improving my times... this is an ancient time slip:

Capitol Raceway
Temp 77F (I think their thermometer/barometer was broken)
Rel Hum 0
Abs Baro 0

60'...2.197
330...6.130
1/8...9.301
MPH...78.01
1000...11.965
1/4...14.217
MPH...100.77

-tire pressure: 35psi F, 28psi R
-1/4 tank gas, 93 Octane, spare-in trunk
-2500-2800RPM launch
-7100 RPM shift
-Getting wheelspin on shift 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd... I've heard it robs upto .1s at the end each time I spin
-mods:JWT popcharger, 18" NISMO wheels/BFG KDWs, NISMO exhaust, Stillen headers
-Help!

A 100mph trap speed with a 14.2 is very good. 100mph usually = a 14.0 run. I know in my 03' stock I was getting 2.0 60ft times even with wheel hop. I bet if you could get a better launch you would see a 13.9 @ 101. Might just depend on how well they are prepping the track. I was able to launch mine around 4000. What RPM are you shifting in each gear?

I assume its a Revup?

60ft is "ok"

1/8 is horrible, about .5 off my stock pace with the same 60ft. Answer?

Your shifting on 1-2 and 2-3 gears is very slow, and it needs work. Improve that and you can go 13.8's with 2.1 60ft's stock....

its typical to get a higher MPH with a slower speed when all things are the same. if you hook really well and therefore run a faster time, you will likely have a lower MPH. that mph with that ET makes me wonder about the rest of the coniditions. what elevation are you at? since the baro and humidity readings arent there, was it cloudy? is the air humid or dry? just a couple things, those runs look to me like runs in hot/humid air or high elevation. do you warm the tires at all? thats something thats always worked for me on streets, but it seems to be a preference thing

The 350Z is running strong picking up 22.7 MPH in the second 660 feet. 9.3 second 1/8 mile time shows mediocre acceleration during the first 660 feet. If you begin with a 2.19 second 60 foot time, its difficult to break 14.0 seconds. And yes 2.0 seconds is possible with street tires.

Here is an example above with a 0.08 second difference in 60 foot time. 0.08 seconds will make a big difference in ET.

Here is a better example above. 60 foot time is the same. The difference is the first to second gear shift.

Alberto, could my slow shifting be causing the wheelslip I get shifting 1-2 and 2-3, and causing my poor ET? Also is there a good post on shifting technique that I can practice? (too lazy to search...)

If your breaking traction on 1-2 and 2-3 with bolt-ons tires are an issue, or your not going around the water box and making your run worse by trailing water to the line. Practice makes perfect, the more seat time you get the better you will get.

What year is your car? 7100rpm's is only available in a Revup or a reflashed car. I dont think you have an HR....

You're spot on on both counts! I don't think there's room to drive around the water box at capitol raceway... and I did get a reflash on my '03 to bump up the rev-limiter to 7100(?)... That said should I do a longer burn-out on my street tires to get more of the water off (vs just cleaning off the debris?) Tho' I'm starting to think I'll get better times if I knew how to shift...better

I never have room to go around....first gear burnout for 20 feet or so (5 seconds maybe?) has always dried my tires for me.

Careful saying warming, most people don't understand the difference between a thorough tire scrub and warming tires.

They take a slicks style burnout to be warming (which it is) and 5 revolutions of the tires to be cleaning.

I've never tried REALLY short burnouts because if you watch street tires during a burnout (good ones only) they burn a dark color for a second then get lighter. When they burn lighter they are clean...thats about the point I burn to.
