Arrow 2006 G35 Sedan Vs 04 Z?

What do u guys think an 06 G35 Sedan 6mt can do at the track with a good driver against a 04 z with bolt-ons. The sedan is a Revup.

Just wondering because where going to test and tune and ive never seen or heard what the sedans can do.

Thanks guys.

Check out the infinit forum for their times.

They run about mid-high 14's with an average driver and a stock car. Low 14's with bolt-ons and a decent driver. I believe there is someone on our top 25 list with a 13.7 or so in a 4 door.

If your the Z, you really shouldnt have that much to worry about, unless you cant drag race very well.

About once each month there is a “My buddy and I are going to the dragstrip what do you think?” threads. No one has ever followed through and posted results. Funny isn't it.

EDIT: BTW if your are racing

10. Trey.Hutcheson ---- SEDAN ---05 G35- 6spd 13.264@103.96mph 1.895 60ft DR's

you are in big trouble.

The Z will win if he knows how to drive.

Wow, I didnt realize he got that much faster thats awesome.

It is pretty true too that nobody does ever post their results. I tend to humor these questions though for reasons unknown to me sometimes.

thats because they goto the track and run 15+secs and they are ashamed to post their results. I have a feeling the Z wont even break 13's. Just from personal experience watching new guys at the track.

Im actually not a new guy at the track, I worked my my times down from a average mid 15's to a PB of 13.8. I think the test pipes and spacer made some difference. My buddy with the G is no slouch either, hes been taking his hondas to bradenton for years. Although I think ive got the edge being that hes never taken a RWD car with this much tork down the track. I will sure to post results next thursday night after test and tune.

You'll be able to take him if you can drive your car, I wouldn't put too much into the sedan running 13.2 on drags, not the same kind of race with street tires, the z with less weight and lightly bolted. I come across the same 2 3.2L m3's weekly and they can never pull away from me at 60+mph, and I'm pretty bolted without a decent tune. I took a new '08 G35S and I had my buddy in the car so I think you would take him too.

I think it will come down to the driver not the car. You guys have fun.

Skrilla, do you have any dyno #'s or 1/4 times yet?

A G35 6MT (revup) revup should only be around 0.2-0.3 tenths slower than a 350Z (revup). Same power, and about ~150 lb difference.

A large amount of people out there believe the G35 sedan is slower than the G35 Coupe, which isn't true at all. They are the same in terms of acceleration, auto vs auto, and revup vs revup.

Assuming both cars are driven well, the Z should be .2 to .3 seconds and 1 to 2mph faster. I have been quite competitve with the Zs at KCIR, but I don't think most of the guys know how to drive very well. My stock 2003 G35 sedan automatic did 14.3s@98mph. With a spacer, it's still in the 14.3s, but is seeing traps near 100mph. I'm sure if I could run on one of those Northeast tracks I'd see significantly better ETs. The biggest advantage I see with the 350Z is it's short wheel base. It allows the car to plant and launch a bit hard than the 8" longer wheelbase G. Also, weight does come into a bit.

I ordered the UTEC Tuner, after that I'll finish up the tuning myself. I contemplated using the DIY standalone on it (I use the DIY standalone on my Talon), but I like the simplicity of the installation of the UTEC so once the Tuner arrives I hope to drop something decent on a Dyno. I need to update my signature, my manifold is pretty much gutted for volume

...unfortunately I'm not running a decent tune

Well last night we had it out on the highway at around 4am. There wasnt any traffic but truckers really so dont flame please, we went for miles and miles from every type of roll from 50 to 100 and he didnt have anything for me. It wasnt really even a race, I was expecting a 6mt Rev-Up to at least give me a good chase but he didnt stand a chance. THEN on the way home on a backroad with water on both sides with ZERO traffic we went at it from a standstill and I murdered him. My car just screamed right by him after I got traction. It seems like the only possible chance he might have is from a fast roll. He was even powershifting.

I do have testpipes, exhaust and a spacer so I wouldnt say im exactly stock. I think with the same mods it will be a better race. Even though I still dont think he stands a chance. I actually drove his car for a little and u can really feel the lack of tork compared to a non-revup. i know its only 16ft lbs but it feels more like 50.

We are still going to test and tune thursday so ill still post my slips.
