I just had my first drag race yesterday.
I was over at Clay City, KY with the folks from Horsepower House (great people!).
My Z is totally stock and have not had my tranny replaced yet, so I was conservative in quick-shifting into 3rd as it did a bad grind in a previous run.
Got a 1.589 60'
I kept the RPM right at 2000 and launched with a chirp I believe - it was perfect.
My 1/4 time was 13.691 but with a new tranny and more practice I am sure I will be able to drop it a few notches.
We had dynoed my car at Horsepower House and were really surprised at the strong numbers and estimated flywheel hp of 315... you can read about it here:

it looks like you staged with your rears to me cause there is no way you cut a 1.6 60 ft coming out of the hole at 2k and no way you did it on street tires

Damn you guys are harsh
Here my 3 slips for that day, in order:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/dps/...lips110903.jpg
It's in order from left to right as the day progressed, I am #81.
My first run was a disaster with bad start and 3rd gear grind, my second run had a crappy launch but I waited a split sec. before putting into 3rd (to prevent the grind), and I surprised myself big time with my last run. Although I fouled, I did get a 13.69 1/4.
We actually have the runs on video, so I will post that up when I get a chance.

i wouldnt say he was a liar, but it's not right..you were pulling 2.2s then you pull a 1.5...like i said, you probably lined up with the rears at the staging lights.
YOU DID NOT CUT A 1.5 60'
but i am not going to call you a liar because its not your fault
i cut 1.7s on sticky tires with a 5k launch in a geared car with a lot more tq than you are putting down, do you really think you beat that by 2 tenths with street tires and a 2k launch?

I did do a faul, which I suspect happened because my car was slighty rolling right before the light, which is the reason for my quick 60' time. Again, I am going to put up the video when I get a chance.

You should have noted that in the initial post ... saving yourself the huge Q&A that has followed it
regardless, your low 14 sec runs and 98+mph et are very similar to what everyone else here sees when stock, so good runs

(b)the track timers were f'ed up
i'm not trying to flame you, but you did NOT run that time or pull that 60'

then why the **** did you say this
Yes, I know that redlighting will not change my 60 or ET, and thus my car did indeed to 1.58 60' stock on stock tires.

haha
because there is a 6 inch space betwen the 2nd sensor and the 3rd sensor on the track which allows the car to be very very slowly rolling for 6 inches before the actual launch. This in effect, allows my car to not have to break the initial inertia of the car of being totally still.
