Default Constructive Criticism Welcome-Novice-Vids/Times inside

I've read many times that practice is key here; I have little. This is my 3rd trip to drag strip ever. Maybe some of you can speed up my learning curve with some helpful hints based on my times and videos below-

I have a 06 Enthusiast, 18x9.5 Rotas with Kumho Ecsta Mxs, No engine or breather mods, COBB springs/sways, TCS off, Rev warning set to 6800rpms (flashes at 6300 I believe).

Run #1 Launch about 3500rpm

Video Run#1 - http://www.hiap.com/Milan/Milanrun1-91708.wmv

Run#2 Launch about 3700rpm

Video Run#2 - http://www.hiap.com/Milan/Milanrun2-91708.wmv

skipped Run3
Run #4 Launch about 3000rpm

Video Run#4 - http://www.hiap.com/Milan/Milanrun4-91708.wmv

Run 2 was my personal best 60ft too bad I missed that shift. My personal best ET is 14.393.

Thanks,

give me some details about your launch, RPMs and what not.

You really need a lower 60ft and (as i cant open vids) maybe faster shifts.

I think your revving too much and you need to shift a lil faster, also try to lower our RC time

Reaction time has no bearing on the OP's times.

It is evident his problems are with the launch and shifting though.

I was trying to focus on my launch to begin with. Once I missed shifts on my 2nd and 3rd runs - I then just tried to get a good launch and make all of my shifts on the 4th run - which probably slowed my shifting even more. Maybe I should try to lower the camera next time to capture whats happening with my clutch and shifting.

I edited my approximate launch numbers in the 1st post - mainly around 3500rpms.

It's kind of difficult to see when I'm shifting 1-2-3-4 because of glare. Generally it seems like I am shifting around 6700-6800, chirping 2nd and 3rd.

Your area of improvement is the same as 90 percent of new racers: 60 foot time.

You must be aggressive with the clutch and gas. The 2.15 second video is very informative. You get out of the hole well with just a touch of wheel hop (notice the shutter). Whatever you did keep doing it.

Faster shifting will definitely improve your ET and will even help your trap speed a little.

Whenever I hit the track, I only let off the throttle for the 1-2 shift. The rest of the time I keep the throttle floored, and tap the clutch while moving the shifter into the next gear. The reason I let off on the 1-2 shift, is that with these tires, it would just spin through 2nd gear, and my times would be slower.

Here is a vid I found after a quick search, that demonstrates the technique. Very fast, and precise.

The vid where you got 2.15 60' was really good. I would keep trying to do what you did in that vid. If you wouldnt have missed second you defintaly would have beaten your best time.

No offense, but if you really don't know anything about drag racing, could you not post these "advices" or yours? Kthnx.

OP, your video is taking too long so I'm not going to watch them. However, looking at your time slips, it's very evident that you're not feathering your clutch out. You're most likely dumping it and you're revving too high for a first timer (goes back to not feathering your clutch out). Also, your shifts could improve, but that comes naturally with practice. Lastly, if you aren't already, shift right before redline for maximum efficiency.

No video this time.

2006, MT, MREV2, 5/16 spacer, HFCs, Motordyne XYZ single shockwave, UpRev e-tune, Street tires - stock Potenzas about 35psi

About 80F, 40-50% humidity, sunny

Revved to about 3500 and tried to feather clutch.

Your reaction was a bit slow, but over all Great improvement.

haha. Did you see guy I was up against? I wasn't racing him - just going for time. A zero reaction wouldn't help me against a 12sec car.

Thanks man.

If you're going for quicker ET's and faster MPH don't sweat your RT (concentrate on launching at a certain RPM at the line and feather it out - looks like you're doing that). Your latest run is great. It's hard to get below 2.1's with street tires for the 60' times. Air pressure changes in your tires will help though. BIG improvement over your previous runs. Night and day.

I wish people like you understood drag racing on a non competitive level before posting your "insight"

RT has NOTHING to do with your time. Id rather have a 3 second RT and nail the launch than vice versa.

OP-GREAT improvement, but you can still go faster, with those mods your now running stock Z times.

I wish people would read the sticky about not posting unless you have any clue what you are talking about..........but they don't.

I have seen cars sit at the line for 8 seconds only to run a 7.xx.
