Default 19 Front 17 Rear [ for drag night ]

I have 19x9.5 front 19x11.5 rear. I'm thinking of using (2) 17" wheels on the rear and leave my front alone with 19" for drag night. or should I change all 4 wheels to 17" ?

By the way how much difference does it make using 19" to 17" in millisecond in 1/4 mile. some say 0.5 sec

well you will only be running a drag radial if you go to 17's on the rear (i.e. you won't be on a slick with a 17in wheel) so you will be fine.

You see drag tires being smaller diameter wheels so they have as much sidewall as possible to flex. So in theory being the same width and overall height tire, a tire with a 60 series sidewall offers more grip than a 50 which offers more than a 40 series etc.

17-inch wheels will be fine. Keep VDC OFF.

What kind of tires are you putting on the 17s?

It has street tires Falken 451 (discontinued) I think.... 7/32nds tire depth. So 19 front 17 rear is fine for one drag night right?

If I run 19" all 4 wheels how much would it affect the time by ?

Yeah, that'll be fine since it's all street tires. I'd probably change them all, but that's just me. Honestly, I don't think the size/type of tire is going to have a large influence on your time as a n00bie. I think having a mismatched set draws attention to your car, which is fine until you bust out your first 15s pass. Can you just run on your full stock set?

IMO , don't waste your time changing out the tires. It probably won't make a damn bit of difference. When you lay down a 14-15 sec run at least the car will look good with your 19's on all around

It takes a bit to get a 19" wheel/tire going. I would guess the 17" rw setup will be lighter, therefore less rotational mass. When I ran 19" front and 17" rear I had to turn off the TC or it would cut out in normal driving. Just switch it off if that happens to you.

First couple trips just run on the 19's, you might even have more grip.

Question

How did the 17 inch drag radials work out? 1.8 1.9 60-foot times?
