Somewhere between 2500 and 3500 with feathering seems to get the best results.

Can one of you explain the technique of feathering? I've read a posting of a Z launching at 4K with feathering.... TIA

Well I just practiced a lil bit of launching and when I launched at 3000k and feathered the clutch WOW did my clutch burn up!! It stunk in my car.. BUT.. I launched pretty good and NO wheel spin.. Is it that bad to abuse you clutch like this every once and a while??

3000 rpm feathering out the clutch works best for me. I got my best 60 ft doing that. WIth the Z, no wheel spin = good. Little wheel spin = bad.

Feathering is just not letting the clutch all the way out, more like a controlled release while holding the rpms up. Dropping the clutch is just a quick release. To Feather I usually let the clutch out half way and then use a quick controlled release the rest of the way. Once all the way out I quickly push the gas all the way down, but don't slam it or you will get wheel hop.
