Default Went to the track tonight... wow.

I now see why people think Capitol raceway is not as good as MIR. I couldn't catch traction in second gear AT ALL. I would literally go into second gear and the revs would shoot up to 7k and the car would start shuttering. After awhile I just went into second and almost immediately went into third to catch traction.

Anyway, here is my best slip:
r/t: .291
60': 2.198
330: 6.062
1/8: 9.235
MPH: 79.05
1000: 11.874
1/4: 14.075
MPH: 102.84

Anyway, tell me what I'm doing wrong this time. lol

Oh, btw, there was a 335i sedan there doing 13.7 all night long!

Nighttime racing when the temperature is 64 degrees and the humidity is 89 percent is tough. After sundown the water condenses, and lays on the staging pad. Far from ideal.

Dangit, why'd you have to go and make sense?

So looking at other track times, if I'm trapping 102mph that should be good for mid 13 second runs right? I guess I have to continue working on the driver mod. Or perhaps get some non-stock tires that aren't bald.

Of course 2.2 second 60 foot time is killing your ET.

There are a couple of tricks such as following a car with 10 inch slicks. The staging pad will be clean in his tracks. If you follow a Honda with wet tires you are dead.

BTW you are picking up 23.8 MPH in the second 660 feet. Your car runs strong.

Should I be doing a burn out on street tires? I tried to avoid the water, but the space was limited to go around it.

No. I just spin the tires at bit to throw off any water.

If the center of the staging pad is not working for you, move left or right 12 inches. Try to find some fresh VHT.

Damn, I was going to go down to Capital tonight, but it was raining in Frederick when I got home at 330. If I had known it was dry down there I would have gone. Personally, I don't like Capital all that much, but it's usually the only option for Fri Night T&T. David is right.......you have to feel your way around and find the groove that works best for you. Also, it isn't uncommon for people to pull water up to the staging line by not spinning them. The awd cars do this with regularity. I have run 13.3's-low 13.4's at 102 in the past......

Also, my current PB was at capital with nearly identical conditions (63 degrees 94% humidity 29.89 Baro).

I'm completely stock down to the tires.
Yeah, conditions didn't look good, but I was there until about seven, then they stopped for a rain delay so I left, but as soon as I got back on 301 it was all dry again. Kinda wishing I had stayed now. Oh well, there's always next week.

I have to admit, the funniest thing I saw was a guy down there racing with a Hyundai Accent hatchback. There was also some woman in a SS Colbalt she had just bought (still had the new tags on it). I know I was frustrating her, because I was spinning tires all night long it kinda gave her false hope. In first gear we were even, in second she'd get ahead because my tires just kept spinning, then about halfway down the track I'd put it in third and catch up and win by a car and a half. Did that to her about three times. lol

There weren't that many people either, maybe about 25 cars out there tops. I kept racing the same people over and over SS Colbat, some guy in a 3rd gen eclipse, 335i, Mustang GT 5.0 supercharged (he killed me), newer mustang anda G35. I never got to run against the G35. He was slightly modded at least, saw he had an exhaust, for some reason it didn't sound right to me though...

No, not yet. Fix the driver first. Then mod. The most I'll probably do is get new tires first.

Hey, are the rears on the base '08 18x8.5? When I was about to purchase tires on tire rack it said they were 18x8?

And if they are 18x8.5, can I put 265/40/18 on them like the '04 without any problems?

Wish I could, I'm paying down debt right now, trying to get my finances straigt for the potential "family" next year. Right now big purchases are on hold. I just need some better tires as mine are already getting worn out at 13k miles.

Well, that and if I continue to go to Capitol I'll need better traction, I don't feel like driving two hours to go down to MIR every Friday.

What do you guys think of the Hankook V12 tires? Any good?

Your 60ft is not really bad. My 60ft was a 2.1 which got me 13.0@109 in my stock Clk55.
