Default Forged Z 1st Run, Low Boost

OK, so we took her out for the first time since completion of the build. Since it is a convertible, we only get 1 run and then we get kicked for running lower than 13.5.

We ran low boost, tuned for 91 pump gas. Ran BFG TA Drag Radial 255's @ 15psi. The torque converter is WAY too loose for the power. I'm thinking about going back to a stock TC, since the car makes enough power to launch fine with that. We will raise the rev limiter to 8000 and take her back to a track soon. We'll probably run on low boost a few more times, then turn it up to 25PSI when we have some more feedback on the car.

A special thanks to the following individuals and shops for their help.

Intense Motorsports (www.intensepower.com)
Pro-EFI (www.proefi.com)
Superior Racing Development (www.teamsrd.com)

Han, Darren, Pete, Tyler, Greg, and Zack from Intense
Jason from Pro-EFI
Chris/Inzomniac
Chet from SRD

Tyler from Intense is the driver as well.

Not bad for the first run!

Great work for low boost. Congrats!!! I hope you get all the kinks worked out, even though it seems that things are looking pretty good for you right now.

Thanks! I think we will have everything tweaked within a few weeks and then I'll hit the track again. We had a blast, but I was very nervous and anxious all day, after waiting 2 years for this!

LOL! Actually, I had it with a background track that went well and then just the car and cheering sounds for the run, but apparently my background track was a copyright violation, so youtube muted the whole video!

I'll see if I can upload another one with the real sounds only.

ahh can see it now. so 15 psi is around 450 hp? Thats the same trap I could do with my vortech at 450 hp. Definitely had more area under the curve than I did bc that a nice 1/8th for 450hp.

Very nice. 25 psi will be very fun!

did someone else drive your car because they wanted to make sure it was running right?

**wait I just saw your sig... I guess the driver let off? bc thats not a 525 whp trap.

Yes, he drove it to test it. We only get 1 run with the convertible and then we get kicked. The power issue is actually the torque converter. It is a high stall converter, but with this much power, we don't need it. It is supposed to stall to 3200, but it is more like 4600!

How much power at 15psi?

11's first run in a "heavy" auto Z is awesome.

Actually, that's kinda how I had it before Youtube owned me with their copyright recognition software! No real options for their "audio swap." Except "muted" or with one of their songs.

No problem. Maybe you can make it out next time. I'm not going to be at the strip often enough to lose my top functionality and I believe that will be necessary to get a cage that will pass tech.

It was about 14PSI and it should be over 550WHP peak. We are just not getting enough power under the curve, due to the loose TC.

Thanks for the props! This car is an auto and a convertible with a stereo system and 20" chrome wheels! it is really heavy! Like 4000+ lbs! I'll get her fat butt on a scale sometime and see for sure.

Actually, yes! That's about right. I'm burning through the tires because of that. Tyler had to peddle it a bit off the line to keep the tires hooked up.

nice, but seems like it would run faster than that with the power, did the driver let off or was that the real trap?..wish i could hear the car

Please post your proof here:
https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840...ons-stock.html

The best time for any NA VQ of any year or model or transmission with any number of bolt-ons is:
1. AudibleMayhem ---Built Block -03 Tour 6spd 12.338@110.18mph 1.700 60ft Slicks

You are very casual about such a accomplishment. Beating the fastest time by half a second and 6 MPH! WOW! Please take some pride in your accomplishments.

We had several things that we need to tweak to get a better run. Traction was an issue as well as the Torque Converter and the rev limiter. Also, most people make a lot of runs before they can post their personal best and they may still have runs that aren't as good. This is the 1st and ONLY run the car has ever made. Because it is a convertible without a roll cage, we only get 1 shot and then we get booted.

I'm going to attend an event with a club where I can get teched to 10.0 and then I'll have plenty of chances to get a personal best.
