Default First time at Drag Strip Twin Turbo 5AT

I went down with some friends to the local dragstrip on Friday night. I had never been to a drag strip before. Always wanted to try it, and had a blast. It was very humid out and about 85 degrees.

As for the car. I have APS TT, APS 3.5" downpipes, APS 3" true dual exhaust, haltech ecu, valve body upgrade, and michelin pilot sport tires which are stretched slightly (275 on 10.5" wheel), 480cc injectors (maxed out), and mrev2.

My second run was actually my best which was 12.554 @ 111 with a 2.085 60ft ha.

The first run was a 13.5, then the rest were I think: 13.2, 12.8, 12.6, and another 12.5.

I could never get over 111 and faster than 2 seconds for the 60ft.

I definitely need some drag radials and a stall. I was on my normal street tires. I would have to power brake to about 2400 then take off slowly (which would still spin). I could never give it full throttle in first gear or else I would spin like crazy. Full throttle going into second would also spin, so I had to ease into that also.

I look forward to going back sometime and hopefully having some better tires. Overall, it was really fun.

Here is one time slip:

I think you have this sport pretty much figured out. 8.2 seconds on street tires is excellent. Nice driving.

What I am curious about is the second 660 feet. The Z is picking up 20.4 MPH. Is this par for forced induction?

Thanks guys! I am not sure about the whether it is par are not. Maybe someone else can chime in who knows more about the drag racing of the Z's. Yeah, I didn't think the 8.2 was that bad considering I was running on 19" street tires lol. But, I am going to try to find some 17's and put some DR's on there just for the track and then see what I can do.

I am from Lexington, KY. The drag strip I went to was Clay City. It isn't the greatest, but it is the closest to where I am from. $20 test and tune unlimited runs. Not too bad I don't think. It is about 45 mins from Lexington.

As for the valve body upgrade, it is a TransGo kit. Then, I just have a tranny cooler also. Nothing too crazy. The highest my temps seem to get are about 210 and then I will take it easy for a while. But, no matter how hard I have driven, it has never gone above that.

You ever visit KY?

How much power on that run?

Mid 12's on street tires your first time out ever is ahead of 90% of the non drivers on this site. Well done.

It is putting down 397rwhp and around 365rwtq at 9.5 psi. I only have one setting lol. I think with some bigger injectors I could get a little bit more power out of it (just barely of 400). But for the time being, this will have to do!

Thanks again guys. Like I said, it was definitely fun getting out there. My first run was a bit embarrassing. It was the 13.5. I pulled up, went past the markers haha then had to back up and line up again. Then, I didn't realize where the actual 1/4 ended, so I let out too early. But, after that I was good to go and I was addicted.

8.2 is a good 1/8th but the back half is pretty slow. I was picking up 26-27 mph on the back half with my vortech with a 89-90mph 1/8th trap.

Yeah, my trap time seems a bit low. I am not too sure as to why? Could it be due to the fact that I have the 5AT? Or could there be many other factors?

I know on a different time my car was running out of gear in 5th at 155. Which surprised me.

Cuz autos die when they hit 4th, prolly even 400whp autos have a slight lag area just into 4th gear. Id imagine you need more power to blast thru that known area, but I havent driven a Turbo auto Z so I could be talking out of my a$$...

yeah the mph is prolly due to auto and the weather and not launching very hard..

i pulled 92 mph in 1/8th and 117mph 1/4 on my vortech setup....Get a stall and some tires and see if that helps u out
