Default 2005 coupe 6MT 13.79 @ 103.5 with MILD bolt-ons

I posted this a while back on G35driver, but figured I'd post here too since I see a few other G guys posting. (copy & paste from my thread on driver)

(Originally posted March 7, 2010)

Its been a while since I posted in here. I went to one of the first test and tunes of the year at Cecil County, MD today with some friends. It was perfect weather out today, and surprisingly there were maybe only about 30 cars or so that ran all day. And for the most part, literally no wait in the lanes. Needless to say, I wanted to take advantage of it and ended up making 31 passes today (no, that is not a typo).

First off, background on the car at the track. I bought the car in April 2008 and ran the car 2 weeks after purchase and went 14.05 @ 102.3mph on a 2.17 60ft 100% bone stock, to the tires. Some people were impressed with that, as was I after seeing what a lot of people run. but I definitely wanted to get a 13 out of it in stock form, or at least with as little mods as possible. Also my own rules with the car are no stripping of interior etc. Only remove the spare and run on street tires at normal full pressure.

Here is the original thread with my stock times from 2008:
http://g35driver.com/forums/drag/215...s-tonight.html

I have since installed a Popcharger/Ztube and an HR y-pipe. No plenum, spacer or anything else. I also currently have 17" base 350Z wheels with Blizzaks on all four corners. Car put down 250whp/223wtq in current form.

First pass of the day after not running it at Cecil for 2 years was a 14.13 @ 101.5, so that wasn't too far off my personal best stock time to start the day. After many frustrating ups and downs in times throughout the day, I finally cracked off three 13 sec passes in my last three passes of the day. I was cutting it REALLY close with when they were going to shut down the staging lanes at 4pm, but I got one and then wanted to at least get one or two more to back it up.

FINAL RESULTS (the 13s):
13.85 @ 102.8mph - 2.16 60ft
13.95 @ 102.7mph - 2.21 60ft
13.79 @ 103.5mph - 2.15 60ft

This is the car as it ran at the track with 17's and Blizzaks all around lol.

I have since put the RAYS 19's back on with new Kumho Ecsta SPTs and also bumped the timing up 2 degrees. I want to get back down there to see what that does for me, but might have to wait until fall to get another good day.

I am currently 6th on the G35driver NA/bolt-on list for DE motors and 2nd on the stock times list (granted, only 5 entries for stock lol). I hope to climb another step or two up that ladder in the fall.

Imo, the smaller wheels helped you. The 19s will put you back into the 14s.

Why do you say that? The overall diameter is the same with both sets of wheels. The forged 19's are much lighter than the base 350Z 17s with Blizzaks - you can clearly feel the difference when driving. My best times stock and bolt-on had almost identical 60fts as well.

You aren't scrubbing off a lot of speed on those blizzaks from the look of it. Maybe a .1-.15 better on the 19's would be my guess.

1st graph - JWT Popcharger & Ztube
2nd graph - JWT Popcharger & Ztube, HR y-pipe

The HR pipe seemed to wake the car up a bit on the top end. Dyno was identical but then jumped up from 4500-7000 where I gained 6-7whp across most of the chart (about +5whp gain at peak). Weather was almost identical for both of these, which is remarkable being a year later. I don't have the weather conditions handy, but I'll dig up the original dyno files if anyone cares. The car has always been on the same dyno each time.

I was surprised it ran that good with the winter wheels on. The HR y-pipe helped out a little on the top end, with 3 or 4 passes in the 103mph range the last time out, vs 101-102mph previously.

I had a friend of mine do it with his software (don't recall what he tunes with). He actually lives right on Rt 74 in Dillsburg lol. He has a silver 2004 G35 coupe 6MT with a built motor and APS twins (more of a daily driver) and then his "fun" car is a red 2G Eclipse with a GT42R @ 48+psi on E85, dogbox, etc.

I trapped within .5mph at another track which is the "slow" track. Not too mention the DA was 700' lower when I ran at Cecil.

Ajcool2 traps 105-106 in his auto that makes in the low-mid 240's at several tracks. Through a stall though. Not too mention if he turns sideways you can't see him.....skinny dude.

Cecil is considered "fast" by many. But then again, I went 14.0 @ 102.3mph bone stock, and that same night a guy with another G coupe 6MT with full bolt-ons was only running 14.2 @ 100mph. Give the driver a little credit too.

good morning Reidonly.....
I had Jesse look at my car last nite...he checked my settings with a lap top . although he seemed to be checking and changing alot of things he said he had only increased my timing by 2 degrees above stock....my car now is a totally different animal....I knew that the car was not performing like it should. First gear now literally charges and getting rubber on second gear shift...wow...anyone looking for additional power should look at this first...I am so happy with my car now...thank you so much for your help....
