andre i saw you at lebanon valley last night, i was in the blue 07. it seems you could do a better burnout and get the tires a little hotter. You would most likely be able to launch it a little higher.

Thanks-after my first run of 13 flat I started to have traction problems. Made it to the last 10 cars on luck & cutting light. Right before semi-finals I lost complete traction control, engine went past red line so it broke up plus I missed 2nd because I was so pissed. small world

Yep, the HR clutch strikes again.

My car was trapping as high as 109, but had the worst pedal pressure when it ran the best, limiting me to granny launches and 13.1's stock.

Too bad Nissan didn't make a good clutch and slave set up for the HR. It could have run high 12's stock.

I was always tempted to get a new clutch and replace the slave lines, along with running better fluid, but it wouldn't have been stock.

Congrats on your 12.9. Just wait until cooler weather and you will see mid 12's with those kind of launches.

I should add that my 04 DE ran a very similar 13.01 with M/T drag radials and a few bolt ons, while it was only running 105.69 mph, thanks to being able to launch very hard. Very similar to your time during much cooler 50 degree weather. If only they had maintained the DE clutch set up with the HR.

Makes me want to buy another HR and mod it. All you need to run high 12's with the HR is driving skills and an aftermarket clutch.

When I look at the top times of moded cars & pure stock times, I see that they are almost the same. My conclution on that FACT & my own 13.195 w DR's only, Florida best, shows me that all that after market money spent might be a waste. Am I missing something????

The times depend a lot on conditions and driver's. HR's are held up by the factory clutch and slave. They will respond to mods though, but not much on the intake side, as the HR has an excellent intake system. The exhaust and tuning will increase power though. Then there is the clutch and slave. An upgrade there, as you found out, makes a world of difference. Having DR's will help out too.

DE's respond a little better to mods, imo, since the factory intake and motor have more room for improvement. But they will not make the power the HR's do, without an internal build.

My DE ran a 13.640 stock best with a best trap of 103.03. With a JWT pop charger intake, AAM angled spacer, Helix TP, Nismo flywheel, Borla exhaust and M/T DR's it ran a 13.01 @ 105.69.

My HR ran a 13.157 best with a best trap of 109.03 stock. I never modified it, but a clutch alone, being able to dump it at 5-6K rpms, would drop it into the high 12's with nothing else. An exhaust, TP's, flywheel and tune should drop it down into the mid 12's with a good driver and excellent conditions. That would be good for bolt ons on a 350Z.

You just don't see many HR's, so you don't see as much with potential as you do the DE.

Not exactly. All-motor plus tune will get you more PEAK horsepower. Whether a driver can turn the horsepower into better ET is another story.

I have seen Andre's Z @ Lebanon Valley twice now. Congrats on posting the slips Andre. I still find it hard to believe that a relatively stock HR with DR's ran a 12.90

With all my mods and I haven't even hit mid 13's. We will see how Tyler does with my Z!!!! He has alot more drag experience then I do. (I basically have none) lol

Hi pal. Nice to run into you here. For some reason in lebanon I'm having traction problems then I miss second gear???? Almost made it to the semi-finals, before the same thing happened. Next Friday(if weather is nice) I might go to Raceway park. Try to get some more 12.9's-12.8's ???? Lebenon is a nice small friendly track with many cool cars. Tell me when/if the nissan get together happens. With better tires & some practice with someone experienced, I think you'll be seeing some great times. Did you see the top 25 1/4 mile times? I'm listed in my class number 1-fastest Z in the country. Feels so cool
See you at the track,
Andre

Yeah nice job man! I have heard from friends and a guy I work with that traction is an issue on Wed nights. They don't properly prep the track. Saturdays and Sundays are better.

I need to post up a thread in the NY section and organize a meet with our local club. Just trying to decide which will be better a Wed night or a Saturday.

That 1.8 60' is the key here. Also notice he's only trapping 105. With cooler weather I can see even better times in your future.

LOL@ 167 degrees

It's easier to spend money the spend the time to learn how to drive...

I just saw this but I dont buy the fact that those tires wont hold the power of a stock Z at launch.

MT says their DR's are for auto cars? Whaaaaat?

What tire pressure do you run in them? Of course a drop at 6000rpms would likely get you spin but I think you can still eek out another .1 in that 60ft if you are really launching so low and pulling 1.8's.

Regardless, good driving!
