I was talking to the guy that owns that supra Sunday and he had a 255 50 16 (26) mt et street drag radial on the car. I've seen him run before in 10.0 index and he's dipped in to the 9s quite a bit, so I wonder why he slowed down for a heads up class, lol? I thought that class has a 26" tire rule?

Yep, looks like VTR admitted to breaking the rules for that class

EVERY car has to pass tech before being able to enter the competition. You are correct, the MAX SLICK you were able to run were the 26x10, but we didn't run a slick. We ran a 275 STREET RADIAL.

They didn't expect anyone to roll up to this event without slicks, hence why street radials aren't even listed.

Do you honestly think if we were "breaking" the rules, we would have passed tech and been allowed to compete?

why wouldnt they expect DR's? in an automatic car, DR's are just fine....

Seems silly to limit slick size and not DR. what keeping cars from running 30" DR's if they have the power? Sounds like a loophole, so congrats on exploiting it! Sounds like the competition wasnt thinking.

So i took the car out on the street to a local Z meet last night..... Had to be one of the craziest feelings ive ever had. totally smooth, drivable, and the feeling of the constant boost was very intense. At highway speed off boost car drives amazing, if your in the other lane you can def tell that this car will eat you alive. easing onto the throttle the turbo spools and throws you back in the seat, as headlights behind you turn to a blur within seconds the car climbs to 100+mph speeds. driving the 6 speed is fun, but the auto makes driving this 800HP monster comparable to driving a cadillac. I got some footage that i will be posting later, and also taking the car out again to another car meet. im still smiling ear to ear, i guess thats what 27 PSI will do to ya...

Nice! Was looking forward to hearing your driving impressions on the street with a 3-speed auto. What RPM are you seeing while cruising on the highway in 3rd gear?

im at home now with the car, and the camera. the cables for the camera are at the shop, so i cant upload video till later. on my way to the shop i will video the car cruising on the highway. last night cruising at 80 was its sweet spot in high gear. id say you could cruise in 3rd all day and be good. around 65mph 2nd would be optimal for instant spool. ill take a bunch of video so you guys can see what its like.

Cool. I look forward to seeing it. Please get some good zoom in shots of the speedo & tach if possible while you're cruising at highway speeds.

Thnx for the vid. Definitely looks like fun!

About 3000RPM @60mph and 3500 @70mph ain't too bad. An overdrive gear for 60+ highway cruising would be nice though.
