Default Need quarter mile advice!

Took my car out to the track last night and got 6 runs. Temp was about 75 deegrees. I think we are about 3,000 feet up, I live in Las Vegas. I have a base model so no LSD. I was launching between 1500-2000RPMs and taking it to red line in every gear. Although I didn't notice any tire spin there might of been some. The problem is I could not get out of the 15s. Can you give me some tips so I can run a 14 next time?

R/T 1.466
60' 2.292
1/4 15.273
MPH 91.48

R/T 2.229

MPH 93.80

R/T 1.215

i perfect reaction time is .500 You're reaction time is 4 times as long. Are you tires spiinning at the launch?

Do you have a full tank of gas? Are your wheels chirping when you shift?

Yout 6 foot time are horrible. The problem is the launch.

The reason my reaction times suck is because I don't usually go right when the light hits yellow. I take off when I get the rpms right. Sometimes right when you line up they want you to go. I was running on 1/4 tank. LIke I said I don't think my tires are spinning at launch, yeah my tires chirped up until 3rd gear.

Reaction time doesnt have anything to do with the 1/4 time, so dont worry about that.

Your 60' times are pretty terrible, thats where you need to work on. Trying launching from about 2000 rpm, just pop the cltuch and floor it. You want a little tire spin, otherwise your probably bogging down the engine.

Does your local track have a lighting tree. If it does then you should start reving your motor as soon as you stage your car. I usually hold my rpm's at the rpm's that I want to launch at. When the yellow hits launch and your reaction time will improve greatly and so will your quarter-mail time. My reaction times were as bad as that when I first started going to the track but once you go about two or three more times then you will start to know how to react.

the 60' time holds some of it the rest could probably be found in the way your shifting try to do it faster!

i don't think r/t has anything to do with it... timer doesn't start untill your car moves... how are you launching the car?

That is correct, I don't give a crap about R/T. I was revving it up to about 2,000rpms and slipping the clutch.

60' times suck...
You don't want any spin...a chirp in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is all you want for a perfect run. 2K and slip the clutch...this takes practice and you need a lot of it. Keep going to the track and having fun, getting good happens while your haveing fun...

You need a lot of practice if these runs are you slipping the clutch...
There is plenty of time to get ready before the start light. It's your call to get up to the line and set off the second light. After that you should already be ready. When the last yellow hits GO
