Default New guy w/some ?'s

Last week I bought a 2004 Enthusiast w/3k miles. Well I brought it out to Sac Raceway last night and ran a 14.6 @ 99.97, I know, I SUCK I'm still trying to learn to ease into the gas instead of flooring it right away. Anyone have some tips? I see "BriGuyMax" has run a 13.6 stock and was wondering what he's launching at. Also, does it help to powershift or just shift regular (letting off the gas between shifts). As a former S2000 owner, I'm used to launching at 6500. Last night I launched at 3500, 2500, and 2000 and got tons of wheel hop (wheel hop is no good) off the line. Thanks for any info!

Try slipping the cluct at around 3000-3500 rpm whatever works best for you. What kind of 60ft's were you cutting? If I come off idle I consistently pull mid 2.1 60ft's, so you should at least be doing that, if your over, your being way to aggressive off the line. You gotta get used to making more wtq at 2000 rpm's in this car than the S2K at peak, also shift at redline....BTW if it matters, I power-shift and ran 13.77 @ 101.4 stock, but dont powershift if you value your tranny and only do it if your good, if not your revs will jump too much in between shifts. I dont do it for better times, I do it cuz Im more comfortable staying floored than having to lift. A very fast speed shifter can get the same results...good luck next time out. And lower your tire pressure to 27 psi, that works good for me --->consistent 2.0 60ft's, Im still trying for that damn 1.9 Like Bri pulls

Thanks, yeah I just have to break old habits and feather the throttle for traction. Unfortunately I was running in the fun lanes (no dial-in) so the slips don't show my 60. Do you notice your car getting more wheel hop than wheel spin? I hope that with more practice I can get a 13 sec e.t. stock. Damn this 274 ft/lbs tq!
