teh new hotness...
the KA motors were iron weren't they? that would explain why the VQ (aluminum) is comparable in weight... I'd still say hold off on the location for the ECU/battery/fire suppression until you corner-weight the car.

the ecu weighs about a pound, so i dont think there is much advantage to mounting it anywhere but the most convenient place...
fire suppression will be an extinguisher mounted to cage within arms reach, so its 5 pounds will be dictated by that...
and the battery is mounted in the most convenient place. im not really into modifying/changing stuff just for the sake of making it seem better. i usually need it to actually be better. with the 4-500 or so pounds ive taken from the car, i doubt that wherever i mount the battery will make anything but a marginal difference in the balance/handling of the car...

as far as just getting the motor in, its hard to say. i basically have been building the car from the ground up...
if it were just a vq going into a stock 240 (stock chassis wiring, no chassis prep at all) i would say it would take anywhere from a weekend to a week of actual labor. but, thats in the case that you have every part on hand to begin with. nothing toooo hard about it, just a lot of details... motor/trans mounts, driveshaft, rear differetial, shifter, fuel system, exhaust, wiring, etc...

Look Good............Good luck with the car and the upcoming drifting events. I'll try to get a chance to see this car whenever you guys stop by the next drifting event.

hey man, keep us updated as i am ALSO doing this project. i have been waiting for my brian crower stroked motor for a LONG time and it'll replace the stock vq35 so i will be placing that into my 1995 240sx s14. got the vq tranny, ecu, bcm, throttle body, pedal assembly, ignition stuff and a few extra things that'll help out the swap. either way, i'd like to know of anything that might be difficult so i can plan ahead and knock it out. where abouts do you live? how far away are you from getting this done? lemme know man as i am willing to share info on mine as well but later down the road since i'm still waiting to yank my stock motor outta my g35 so i can throw it in the 240. also i'm pretty sure the VQ weighs significantly less than the KA, i mean you're talking about aluminum vs. cast iron...HUGE difference. send me a pm if anything as i am not on here much!

Not that it may matter to you, but in the new issue of Import Tuner, they have a convertable black 240sx w/ a VQ35DE swapped. It going for the VIP style and is pretty damn hotttttt. Check it out, it may help you some idk.
