bump on an old post...

I've been doing a lot of research on this since I too want easy removal and switch out of bumpers. I live in Northwest Arkansas and a lot of my friends live in the country with nasty dirt roads, so being accessible without spending a lot of time to switch bumpers would be awesome. I have just ripped a stock bumper with add on lip on some of those roads, so recently i've replaced it with a nismo v2 bumper and will be ordering a daily driver stocker. I want to switch back and forth...

long story short:

how secure are they?

what do I do about keeping my liners?

how do I secure the center portion of the bumper under the hood?

dzus vs latch vs password jdm rubber band style?

I personally like the toolbox latches available at Ace Hardware (probably Home Depot/Lowes as well), because you can put a lock on them. The Dzus fastener looks nice, and is flush, but anyone with a nickel or a screwdriver can undo them. The PW:JDM rubber band ones look best in my opinion but are the easiest to undo.

I don't think they look too bad on the car because its more functionality for me. My friend had the password JDM ones and they looked pretty flimsy and not practical.

I got my front bumper attached with the spring latch in my link on the second page. The center area under the hood I just continue using those plastic stock push ones. It is very secure and I have had no problems even when I'm flying at 140.

I was also thinking about getting a nicer front bumper for my daily and swapping to my beat up one when I needed to. It's a good idea if you know there's a chance you might damage it from doing whatever.

I find the stock bumper is easy and quick enough as is, well once you take it off at least once. I just have 1 bolt per side connecting to Fenders, then push clips on top under hood. Plus this way it looks better.

I haven't take off the bumper yet but what did you do to all the bolts underneath the car?

This is the oldest thread I've ever bumped. I would very much so like to do this so that I may change bumpers as quickly at the track as I do tires and pads.

I see a lot of people putting them on the front of the bumper next to the headlight. I'd like a slim one to put on the side, like parallel with the wheel face, if that makes any sense...
