Default Quaife Diff

I do a decent bit of AutoX and a pretty much decided on the Quaife. I have an open diff as of now and it kills me out there on the track. I want to get into drifting also and I know that a clutch type diff would be better, but can I still hang with the rest of them with the Quaife as far as drifting?

i think you should read this and decide.....

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-driv...in-please.html

it all depends on what your gonna PRIMARILY USE the car for??

I currently daily drive my car, but soon i wont be at all again......sold a few vehicles and plan on getting a daily again....anywho.....my intentions are to build a good car for drifting......SOooo, i personally dont care if my car chatters and klunks while daily driving........to me thats just what you have to deal with........cant have the best of both worlds....and i think its funny when i read when people complain about it.........but want "the best" performance at the track....C-mon....

its give or take.....

Yah I have been doing a lot of research. However, I don't want the quaife for the lack of noise although that is a perk. It is high superior to others when it comes to road racing and autox...but I wasn't sure if it would even suffice for drifting. Im not looking to go pro lol just something better than an open diff. Apparently from what I have been reading though, helical lsd tends to act as if it was an open diff when sideways. Bummer...like you said can't have best of both worlds. Might just settle for a 1.5 way which seems to be the choice when doing both drifting and gripping.....

Yah still not 100% Im trying to find someone who actually drifts on the Quaife but It seems like I would be the first haha....talked to Quaife they assured me I could drift with their diff.....lol....didn't give much explanation why though so I don't know whether to believe them or not.

Go with the Nismo 1.5 way lsd...It's adjustable...Just remove the axle, click it to 100% for drift, and then click to 30% for DD, and then 60% for autox/track...I have it and it is a bad *** lsd...I see you're from NOLA, If you know Bradley (blue 350z) he has one...I would offer you a ride in my car, but I'm waiting on my Haltech

a helical diff has no idea you're going sideways and doesn't unlock unless one wheel comes off the ground

you absolutely can have the best of both worlds

the best diff overall is the OS Giken (most # of disks, best machining of components, hardened casing - easily the nicest made diff. for these cars (and I've seen them all at this point) ....and it happens to be the second least intrusive diff behind the Quaife.
