I'm setting my car up for drift/light track use and was having a tough time deciding on 1.5 way or 2 way. A 2 way diff for road racing can cause problems. I can't remember exactly, but it can make the car tend to either understeer/oversteer on throttle lift/engine brake decel...something like that.

I just got the OS diff. It's definitely pricey, but I got it anyway. You cannot deny quality, especiallly on a part that is gonna see a lot of action. My driving coach recommended to set it up for 1.5 way, which should be plenty fun for drifting and still perform well on the road course.

What about the Quaife LSD ? it doesn't make sounds (its the only one Torsen )...
all the others LSDs mentioned are clutch Type.

The 350z diff cant take being welded..........they break.....sure some have reported having it for a while, then it breaks, but with drifting events it will break - promise......

its nothing like a 240sx that can be welded and take it for years......

So looks like top picks are Cusco RS and the even more expensive OS Giken. Anyone have experience with the Nismo's there poppen up in marketplace. I hear there noisy/clunky. How many miles does a typical LSD last?

The Tomei is only available as a 2-way. It's one of the most inexpensive units out there. I was interested in the Kaaz, but I was easily talked into the Tomei, because it is very similar and comes with the shot-peened discs. Apparently, it makes it smoother.

Not true. I have welded many 240sx differentials. The R200 has had only one major change since the '70s. After the S12/Z31 R200, they shortened the pinion length. The the open differential carrier of the S13/S14/Z32 R200, although incompatible with the Z33's R200, isn't much different. I'm confident that if you properly MIG weld 1/4" plates in, it won't break.

Mines set to 2 way.....its aggressive for daily driving, but to me, the clunking and tire scrub is small price to pay when i drive the Z around town..........the performance on the track is worth its weight in gold.....

So it doesn't bother me much......
