damn, i agree it is fun to drift, but expensive too..haha
i need some "alignment adjustability" i'll have to check those camber arms/sways/etc. where did you get all your parts from?
LOL, I wrote my previous message from my phone and I didn't just noticed that you posted in the drift section...
I might seem like a high roller but, honestly, I've just been lucky enough to get great deals of parts from both companies (sales, discounts, bargains):
Import Parts Pro - #1. I usually message Kyle and ask him for deals on the parts I want.
EDO Performance - #2. If IPP doesn't have the items I'm looking for then I go over to EDO. They have a plethora of items and I expect nothing less from a shop in my hometown.
Vendors on this site #3. If 1 and 2 don't have what I'm looking for then I purchase here.
Thinking of going with a 2 way LSD instead of a 1.5 way LSD, but sometimes I autocross. Will the 2 way LSD be a bad idea for the occasional autocrosser?
The 350z diff cant take being welded..........they break.....sure some have reported having it for a while, then it breaks, but with drifting events it will break - promise......
its nothing like a 240sx that can be welded and take it for years......

It's not a 240 is correct... lol i tell people, you might as well spend the money and do it right or just go buy a damn 240 if you want to half *** anything.

I've drifted the Nismo diff... it's nice in 1.5 or 2way.
I personally have a Kaaz 1.5 way. Which I think I read someone say that Kaaz only made a 2way. I own a 1.5 way and I love it. It is not bad to drive on the street. Of Course it's going to be very aggressive, that's what it's made for. I drift with the 1.5 way and I prefer it over 2way. I have drifted 17 events, 3 on stock suspension, and the rest with the diff and coilovers installed. You need a good set of coilovers, good arms, and a non broken diff bushing to get the most out of it.
I just installed an OS Giken - 1.5. I haven't tracked it yet but I have messed around in a big lot. Seems really promising; I can't wait to use it on the track.
Ok ive read how you guys say after quite a few events that welded diffs breaks... now is this "break" horrible to where i cant drive the car home and it makes a cluster ***** in the pumpkin?
Im thinking abt buying a open diff pumpkin and weld it and swap pumkins for events. therefore if it breaks i have my stock base pumpkin for back up but my question is... could i get i back home to do the swap if it breaks?
^^^^ EDIT: i already have the solid diff bushings so all i would be lacking would be coil overs. but im pretty sure spare welded pumpkin and diff bushings could get me started or atleast see if drifting is as fun as it looks lol
I've had a shimmed OEM VLSD and a Welded diff. The welded diff is bulletproof. if you want a nice weld job on your diff contact maxusa@poweredbymax.net.

You WONT break anything. I know of 1G and 1Z here in norcal that have had their diff's welded for years. I have had diffs break in my 240s but thats because I welded it myself and didnt use a block.

Hmmm nice. i really want a seperate pumpkin tho. my cars very much a DD and dont want a full on welded diff and dont wanna swap guts. be alot easier to swap pumpkins. im anxious to try drifting. ive been to quite a few events and got the open diff sideways but i cant get it sideways on command.
Thanks for your post and pics. i can very much visualize how it should be done now.
Cusco costs more than Tomei does - no idea if they are the same units or not however, just that both are clutch type units. My guess is they are not the same
Welded diffs only break if welded incorrectly. Simply welding across the spider gears doesn't work, because the welds cannot withstand the stress. I MIG in two 5/16" plates and have never had a problem.
Personally, I use a 2-way and I like the characteristics during throttle lift-off.
