Purchased my 2003 350Z Touring MN a few months ago and from the beginning it made a whining noise from the rear end. Based on when the previous owner told me he had the differential installed it should have right at about 16K miles. I drove the vehicle with the differential and it drove fine no clunks thumps just a whine. Not knowing what issues might be in the differential I went ahead and bought a new Quaife LSD along with a new ring and pinion which was recommended by my tech. I'm not a track driver more of a weekend warrior around town so the new Quaife is ideal for me. It is now installed and I no longer need the Cabonetics LSD. After the install I was informed by my tech that he feels the whine was due to a bad ring and pinion. So I'm pricing this at what I feel is cheap at $500 shipped. The differential works 100% however I'm not quite sure whether the noise was the LSD or ring and pinion. So someone can be getting a steal or a fair deal on an LSD that works. If you buy it and install the LSD and it makes a whine don't come crying to me and if it doesn't whine at all I guess we know the issue was the ring and pinion.
I have a video of me driving the car when the Carbonetics was still in the car so you can hear the whine and see that the vehicle was drivable with no issue. I can email or text you this video no problem.
