Red face Stopped by Cops, but was Lucky...

I was driving to my gf's place tonight around 11pm due to an personal emergency.

When I arrived at my gf's home's drive way, after I turned off the engine and one foot stepped out of my car, there was a police car stopped right behind my Z on the same drive way and the cop was walking towards me.

I was thinking ****, he must have saw me speeding and swerve through traffic (there wasn't much at that time).

At first I did not understand how the cop saw me speeding and swerving around because I always pay really good attention to the road in front and to the side, it turned out that he was traveling in the opposite direction and then made a U turn and followed me for a block. Which I probably did not pay much attention to the cars in the opposite direction and was busy thinking of other stuff in my mind.

I was driving around 110km/h on a 60km/h zone and swerving through some traffic, so I know I was guilty.

So once I stepped out of my Z, the first word the cop said was "can I see your driver's license, ownership, and insurance". He was cool and I did what he said. Then he asked me why I was speeding and swerving through traffic and I explained why. (which I will not get into here)

I explained to him about my personal emergency at my gf's home, and I admitted that I was speeding and swerving, which I know I should not drive like that.

After the cop checked my information in the police car for 5 minutes, he came back beside my Z (I remain sitted in my Z while I waited). Then I admitted again I was guilty and was really really sorry and really appreciate his understanding of my personal emergency. But I was still expecting a speeding ticket and maybe 2 points deducted.

Then to my surprise, he only gave me a Warning and I really thanked him for giving me a chance. Must be my lucky day, didn't really expect a cop to only give me a warning when he sees a person speeding and swerving through traffic in a 350Z with tinted windows.

So the moral of the story, stay calm, admit what you know you did wrong, never never argue with the cop, and ask for another chance (very very nicely and that you have learned your lesson).

Save driving in your Z guys.

Did you get someone pregnant? Yes, treating the officer with respect can often times help you out.

BTW, km/h? WTF is that? LOL

First: good for you for coming out of this situation unscathed.

Second: please, please PLEASE try to express your thoughts in coherent ENGLISH!!!!!! I can read between the lines, sure, but JEEZ!!! Make a complete sentence, attempt to use widely accepted spellings of commonly employed words and TRY TO MAKE A TINY BIT OF SENSE TO THOSE WHO TREASURE THE LANGUAGE!!!! Sorry, I know it's ****, but DAY-UM, it AIN'T THAT DIFFICULT!!!!!!!

For sure, since there isn't much white 350Z on the road.

Maybe I should buy him a coffee next time I see the cop again.

As long as your understand what I am trying to say, it's good enough for me.
I was typing as I think.

I don't think my english is that bad is it? I have seen worst.

But then again, I admit my driving skills is better than my english.

so, what was the excuse/emergency that justified a warning over a ticket?

Alright, I knew you guys will keep asking.

The emergency was that a piece of furniture fell off the wall and almost hit her and pieces of glass were broken all over the place.

It was the truth.

At night the police have tons of calls to get attend to, if your record is clean and you tell the officer that you dont intend to waste his time by driving wrecklessly for your own enjoyment, theres a good chance you'll get off with a warning...btw-im not a cop...

The cop parked in the driveway? tell him to get the f*ck of the property!!

You are lucky, Toronto cops are the biggest a$$holes [division 52] I would've never admited speeding knowing there is a 90% chance he'll give me a ticket anyway. Good gamble.

The first big mistake you made was to drive like a maniac on frequently-used roads and put other people and your life in danger.

The second mistake you made is to admit that you made numerous offences and traffic violations (eg. reckless driving) without having been charged yet. Cops routinely pull vehicles over for a number of reasons that are unrelated to your driving, such as a routine check of your registration to ensure that you are not driving a similarly looking vehicle that was recently reported stolen, etc. By admitting your guilt, you are not only admitting to violations that the cop may have not pulled you over for, but also you prevent any reasonable defences that you may later raise in a court proceeding.

Your lucky!

110Kms in a 60km zone is a 400+$ ticket and 3 or 4 demerit points!
