Default Anyone challenged a traffic ticket due to "unreasonable delay"?

Does anyone have experience flighting a traffic ticket on grounds of unreasonable delay between date of offence and date of trial?

I got a ticket in April 2006 and the trial date is May 2007. I understand that I can file a letter with the prosecutor under section 11(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms for unreasonable delay. I'm looking for help with the letter to make sure I word it properly.

Any help would be appreciated!

my ticket took over a year and a half to complete. i've found it more of an urban legend that they just drop it. when it comes down to it, the JP, or judge has the last say in everything.
