Default how to check if a Z has a lien against it when buying from the USA?

Hi:
I am looking at buying a 350z from the USA. How can I check if the car has a lien against it before buying it? I do not trust carfax.com as I have seen many inaccuracies with it.

Thanks

Call and have the VIN number ran. See if the title comes up as indivudual or with a lein holder.

It used to be, that there was a lien title---Either it has a Blue title, which is a clear title or a pink title which is a lien title-----The lien company will have the blue title....Thats the way it USED to be

Would any bank be able to do this, or are there specific institutions which do?

^if you are going to your bank for a loan, they will do this for you.
It is required if you are purchasing a used vehicle.

Good luck!

Well if I do obtain a loan, it will be from a canadian bank as I cannot get financing from an American institution (I am not a US Citizen). Would a Canadian bank be able to get this lien info?

Thanks

If you are purchasing a US car, most banks will not give you a car loan. Instead they will give you either a straight loan or line of credit, provided you qualify. I was going to purchase an 04 U.S. Vett before I got my ZR, and my bank said that given all the difficulties involved in terms of a general PPSR, a loan or line of credit would be the better credit instrument. Now if the U.S car is here already, and registered with whatever ministry of transportation agency is in your province, then a regular car loan will not be a problem.

Good Luck........
