RUST

hopefully the 350z doesnt end up like the s13 and s14(240sx). i used to own an s14 and there is not one person i talked to that didnt have rust problems. usually major problems too like completely rotted rockers and floor pans. i had no rockers panels left when i got rid of it and the unibody where the rear subframe atached to was completeley gone. i dont have to worry about my z though as that badboy will never see winter as long as i own it. good luck with the rust.

I have never grasped the idea of driving a nice car in the winter, if I had an STI I would be one the fence. But to me driving a Z in the winter isn't even questionable, that is what winter beaters are for!
A friend of mine just bought a mint '04 G35, 6MT with the Brembo's, TEIN coilovers and 10.5x19" volks. Lucky him it came with a set of snow tires and drives it all the way up north. All those nice aftermarket parts including the camber kits are just going to rought away

The underbody of FM cars rust very badly. Most G and Z owners that drive their cars year round in the rust belt would be surprised when they looked underneath after a few years.

I know what krown and rustcheck do. They spray their own brand of oil that is supposed to creep into all parts of the panel and displace moisture.
Undercoating is crap. Looks nice cuz you have a nice black rubberized coating. Once it dries out it and cracks it will actually hold moisture.
Current Cathodic Protection somehow i do not see working on a car, the tires would be insulators. CCP is used on boats, buried piping, etc...

i actually heard that from a few guys too about the undercoating, that after a few years that it will actually retain moisture and look okay but as soon as it starts to crack and fall off it is too late, the rust is usuall right through the floor pan\rocker or very close by this time. damn. i think the oil spray is the best, its not like regular oil it reminds me of honey almost. it is very sticky and honey colored. This is what i had done to my 01 maxima for 3 years. never rusted, so i assume it worked.
