Trade: Mazda RX-8 GT for G35 (Toronto)
Bop, Reality350z = Ex-rx8 owner. There's a reason he went to a Z after owning a rx8.
And of course, I can also tell you from experience with my friend's brother's RX8. No chance at keeping up with me in straight or corners. But then that might just be drivers skills.
You really think a measly 160 tq can keep up with all the modern day cars? My mom's car will own that and boasts a faster 0-60 than that! LOL

I have both an RX8 Grand Touring (with ground effects and wing) and a 350Z roadster. I wouldn't trade unless there's a big bag of cash involved.
My wife drives the RX in the summer and I drive it as a winter car while my Z is stored. There are lots of claims that the RX is a better handling car. Bone stock to bone stock ... yes. Now that I've lowered and stiffened up the Z, it beats the RX's slightly modified suspension hands down.
The Z/G has soooo much more potential. I would ignore all the reviews of straight stock cars.

oh boy, a 6+ 0-60 car is better then a 5+ second Z, now i have seen everything.
Notice how there are few track races between z and a rx8 & other cars. This is due to the fact that there is no competition, rx8 is not even in the league to compete with the big boys, its a kid that likes underglow lights and nice pretty spoilers.
edit; forgot to comment on the interiors, please, if you think z's inteior is cheap (which isnt imo, by a long run) take a look at rx8, the car is pure bs in side and yes i have driven it. little random ***** of different shapes though out the cockpit, f that. Only thing im looking forward to from mazda is the next gen rx8 with a turbo 4cyl, should be good..

'06 shinka.. returned it after about a mth.
Picked up my 35th a week after..
Ummmmm my RX-8 has 238 HP. Every single magazine test pur the 8 ahead of the 350Z. The Z is a clunky handler, rides like a coal cart and has the cheapest looking interior with one of the worst gearboxes on Earth. It's pure ****. I've owned both cars. It's for kids who don't realize what good handling is.
..and 238hp MY ***! They couldnt even dyno over 160whp..
So please, go ahead and keep making a complete fool of yourself. I am sure the members on Rx8.com are having a good laugh at your expense.
*Fyi- I have raced a few Rx8's... It wasnt even worth shifting to 2nd*
Haha, I love the bickering about whose car is better. I bought the Z because thats the car I wanted. Is the RX-8 "better"? At what? Bringing a smile to my face? No. You like the RX-8 better? Thats great, I recommend you keep it.
But the childish bickering about whose car is better is FCKING STUPID!!!!

In October 2004, Mazda set a total of 40 international records with two Mazda RX-8s during a 24-hour record attempt on the 12.3 km oval at the automotive proving grounds in Papenburg, Germany. The two 231 ps Mazda RX-8s drove more than 5,000 kms during the 24-hour record attempt with average speeds of 212.835 and 215.934 km/h. This broke a Mazda record set in 1991 by Bertrand Gachot, Johnny Herbert and Volker Weidler at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans when the team drove the Mazda 787B race car with a 700 ps rotary engine exactly 4,923.2 km with an average speed of 205.133 km/h.
Commenting on the announcement, Jeremy Thomson, Mazda Marketing Director said: “Last year we proved the speed and reliability of the RX-8 when we set 40 international records. This year we want to demonstrate that speed and reliability in the more testing environment of endurance racing.”
The cars used in the Production S1 series are based on the standard, road going Mazda RX-8 sports coupés. The seats and many interior panels have been removed, and each car has undergone a number of essential safety modifications - including the addition of a roll-cage, fire extinguisher, race seat and some suspension alterations necessary for racing. The revolutionary 1.3-litre, 231 ps RENESIS rotary engine and gearbox are standard.

After 24 hours of close competition among 41 cars, the SpeedSource Castrol Syntec Mazda RX-8 team won the GT class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona to kick off the 2008 GrandAm season. The SpeedSource driving team of Sylvain Tremblay, David Haskell, Nick Ham, and Raphael Matos started from the pole, and led 323 of 664 laps, on their way to ninth overall and the class win.
The race was a severe strategic challenge as there were intermittent rain showers for over half of the race and a total of 24 caution periods, many the result of on track incidents. The SpeedSource team was challenged by the slippery conditions with multiple spins, one of which resulted in minor body damage to the rear of the car including a broken taillamp. Other than the taillamp however, the rotary-powered Mazda ran flawlessly throughout the day-night-day race.
The SpeedSource Mazda team beat the runner-up Porsche by over five laps. The win was the 22nd class win at the race for Mazda and a ended a lengthy winning streak by Porsche at the biggest 24 hour race in America. Along the way, the SpeedSource number 70 car beat over two dozen Porsche 911 GT-3s, a handful of Pontiacs, a pair of Ferrari 430 Challenges, a Corvette, some Mustangs and a BMW M6. There were a total of 55 lead changes among 10 cars in the class, but no one could pass the RX-8 for the final 185 laps.
