The Rx-8 was a disappointment. How is it in any way a follow-up to the Rx-7? Throwback cars are becoming more popular now, so maybe Mazda should release the Rx-9 as a throwback to the Rx-7 and we can all just forget that the 8 even happened.

i was looking at that thread today so they must have just pulled it off. What a goof that guy is ha Bashing the Z for how crappy performing it is, but he wants a G which is inferior to the Z in performance. Weird.

I find the s2k rx8 and z pretty much the same. despite you Z owners think its the ****. Its funny because I used to drive a Honda and the S2K guys thought that the S2K was superior.
But really... they're pretty much the same. its a matter of preference. i'm not sure why he's getting bashed.... kinda lame IMO.
I used to think a 350z was the ****, until I drove the M3.

But its gone further than that. Its now all about rx8 vs 350z

 

s2k, rx8 and 350z are not the same cars at all. I've owned both s2k and 350z and test drove quite a few rx8 before the s2k but the rx8 just wasn't cutting it. I like how the Z drives now but I still miss how the S2k feels and would definitely own another one in the future.

Not sure if you read the beginning of the thread but the price difference between an rx8 and a Z is nowhere close so a straight trade the op was asking for was unreal. It's also the fact that he made another username to try and prove everybody else wrong.

 

I never think Z is a superior car just because I drove a Z. Z is just another dime a dozen performance car, really. In fact, I never think any of my previous cars are the ****.

What get me is that when OP said that Nissan Engineers couldn't get the Z handling right. When he said this, he completely unawares of the fact that Mazda Engineers are incapable of making the freaking engine, which is the heart and soul of the car. The RX8 engine Spec is an embarrassment to the 21st Cen. 240 hp you said, What 240? Oh! the hp number that Mazda released when the unveiled the car....I see. How about when Mazda officially apologized and said that the power figures was incorrectly recorded, it supposed to be at 204 instead of 240? Did you guys missed this? It happened in 2005, after the RX8 was released for a year.

I'm a big follower of Mazda cars, especially the RX7 that is always been my dream car, but the RX8 is really is an embarrassment.

 

^ that was due to new standards that were set in Japan... even Toyota followed and restated the power of the camry from 240 to 225hp. Same for some of the Lexus's.

yup... its settled. Every Z owner posting on this thread says rx8 is crap, embaressment, girl's car and so on.... done. Then it is.

The OP had it coming to him. The thought of a straight up trade for a G35 or 350Z = Fail. The fact that he came back under BOP and defended the RX8 goes down as EPIC FAIL status.

 

I agree with Kasim that the RX8 isn't crap. What I DON'T agree with is that people say that Nissan got the handling wrong on the Z. The steering may be heavy, but that's the only bad thing about the handling. Too many people futz with the tire sizing and then the car either becomes understeery or snappy and they blame the handling...but the Z is very sensitive to changes in rubber and stock, is set up for the re40's and s-02. I think it was called the S-02 in Europe, at least.

Why is it that on all the boards, people think that what they drive is the best? Its subjective... he thinks his RX8 is better than your 350z. AMG driver will think his car's better than the M and so on.... don't lose your cool over another dude's opinion. Its just an opinion after all.

 

Never-the-less, there is no way in hell an RX-8 GT is worth a straight trade for a G35.

You are wrong. Have you ever owned one? well I have and I can tell you from personal experience that the z33 is leaps and bounds ahead of the Rx8. The renesis engine is a huge failure. They should have brought the wankel..


I think you are getting butt hurt.... All we were saying is that no way in hell is the 8 worth a straight trade.
If he thinks the 8 is such a superior vehicle, why would he make a straight trade down?

First of all, the new SAE corrections for HP went across the board with all manufacturers.. That still does not explain how or why the Rx8 with a claimed 230hp can't break 160whp on a dj..
