Default Shannonville Times

I'd just thought it would be nice to a have a list of times for those who have done the Shannonville Long (Full) Track. It'll be interesting to see where we stand against other people on the forums and also know the room for improvements. I also thought it would be more fair to have street cars only, general description of mods and please note what tires were used.

I'll start first.

Best lap - 2:07
Avg lap - 2:08
Car: 04.5 350Z Performance
Mods: Drop-in Intake, TD Exhaust, TP, Springs and Shocks, Underbrace, no spare and tools.
Tires: Continental Contisport2 front 235/40/18, Falken FK451 rear 245/45/18(Street tires)

Of course, my goal was to break two minutes on street tires. Quite hard for such a heavy car...

I have a 350z Roadster not a *coupe* as most people that go on the track.

last year ( 2008 )
best lap = 2:07:03 ( during timetrial)
average = 2:08
mod = Hotchkis Sway Bar and a 3.9FD , stock rim/tire , stillen Engine Oil cooler ,Wheel spacer 2x20mm - 2x25mm to finish with a full Veilside Ver3 bodykit

as for 2009 I'm still trying to find the right setting

best lap = 2:05:18
mod= same as last year +
BC racing suspension , Rota SVN , BFGoodrich KWD2 255-40-18 / 295-35-18 (street tire 300 treadwear)
Ferodo DS2500 brake pad , SS brake line , Front Powergrid endlink . Motul Oil brake/cluth

after about 350kms of track my new front tire have been melt and torn , soo im debating to go with another brand for the front.

Wow, those tires must have made a huge difference! I had a lot of trouble keeping traction in the wider corners. Yes, front tires wore pretty fast which I thought was funny since our cars are RWD. I wonder how bad tire wears are on a FWD

Thanks for your contribution!

Edit: I just noticed you have a HR as well. The extra power must be useful, recall what you topped out before braking for the corner on the straight? I thought it was insane when I saw my speedo reading 180-190 when I started braking especially for a straight away that's so short.

the 2 sec I gained was more likely because of the wider tire and some from the new suspension probably.
but i wouldn't really recommend those tire at all after my experience .

yeah i have a HR which help for the weight different from the early coupe model ! but i dint have any HP mod either.
my top speed on that long straight last year (2008 ) was 176km/h
and my last time in 2009 was 182km/h
the bodykit and rear wing has quite some drag too which make it a little bit slower, but i love it!

Video:

My old 240sx did 1.53. Wing/Splitter, RA1s, 320whp, 2350lbs

As you can see both cars are hampered by gearing issues

Sasha, no question that you can set up a race car! When is your next race in Ontario?
I've never driven the long track, but have a time on the:
Pro track of 85.571 (worn out Hankook Z214s)
Fabi track of 82.691 (Toyo R888s)
Fabi track of 79.6 (Hoosier R6)
Nelson track of 58.621 (Hankook Z214s, one corded during the runs)
Edit:
Long Track: 130.751 // 2:10.751 (Hoosier R6 front/Hankook Z211 rear)
Sasha pulled 97.4 HP out at the hub on my GA16DE engine when tuning it.

^On a drag strip maybe.

I'm surprised how little people have their lap times here as I've seen a lot of Z's hitting up shannonville long track days.

I participated to a full track day at Shannonville SMP on July 4th

The weather was quite nice and I had a lot of time on the track.
I did 56 laps during the day and managed an average of 2:06:14 of 27laps without slower car in front.

I did try some different setting with my coilover and swaybar , I'm definitely need to be better at setting up those things.

There was a lot of people running r-comp tire and i was a bit frustrated by them and get passed by a *slower car* with r-comp (R888)

I think the reason why my setting on the coilover and swaybar doesn't really show up is that I seem to be at the limit of my street tire and cant get any faster , correct me if I'm wrong.

best time= 2:05:09
avg time = 2:06:14

Awesome time. That's pretty quick on street tires.
Don't worry about the guys on R-comp. I noticed most of them can't even drive or take wrong lines and purely relies on the grip of the tires to get around the corner, newbies...

just to give an update on those times requested for reference

I participated with Hada motorsport on July 18th in shannonville , we tried all 4 configuration , then later on the day I stayed there and drove with Touge.ca for a little bit .

I had so much fun and my girl friend was at her first full track day ! hehe

here the times !

Fabi....... = 1:15.54 (75.54 sec)
Nelson.... = 0:55.48 * I HATE THAT ONE !!*
Pro Track = 1:20.07 (80.07 sec)
FullTrack = 2:05.09 (125.09 sec)

I had brand new front tire Dunlop Z1 star spec and half life rear Bfgoodrich KDW2

on a side note ! i need more neg camber in the front !!!
should be finally fixed for the next track day (Spl Ver.2 front camber arm on their way)

2:05.09 AGAIN? what are the odds... Think you can ever go under 2 minutes on street tires without going FI?

What's your front camber set at? Mine was at 1.7-1.8 degrees and I had pretty even tirewear, no excessive wear inside or outside of tire. But I had a stiff suspension as well. 12kg F/R Nismo T2 mated with TC Klines shocks.

Yeah, Nelson is gay, it's more of a drift track than a grip track. I hate trying to grip those hairpins as they're so tight, the car just wants to kick out and drift it through or face understeer!

Have you also noticed the at Nelson hairpin before the short straight, there's a metal plating on the ground near the entry-mid corner? I found the same thing on Fabi hairpin before straight as well. I wonder what that's for? Anytime one of my tires hit it, it would slide like it's on grease causing ridiculous understeer or snap oversteer

no I didn't go in the 205 on that day , the best lap time was 2:06.68 on the full track that day. I had problem with my clutch or the Slave cylinder , since when hot the clutch had problem keeping the grip when shifting which cost me time on the long straight !

I had brand new tire in the front *Dunlop Z1 star spec* which made the car handle differently with those half life BFgoodrich KDW2 in the rear .
as far I can tell the Dunlop had more grip at anytime (Hot/cold) .

When i did my alignment last week the front camber was at 1.1L and 1.3R
I have 1/16 toe out in the front and about like 1/32 toeIn at the rear. and 2.5camber in the rear .

I'm having more wear on the outside edge of the front tire ,,, the rear are perfect .

I have right now 12kgfront and 10kg rear , I might order a new set of spring of 14/12 since the car is getting use more on the track than on the road .
and I'm getting some rubbing in the middle of both front tire, they still find their way up and rubbing against the top after I made the front 3/8 higher . I had 26''front tire before , now its a 25'' (255/35/18)

I doubt it very much . I suppose if i could get a pair for the rear that match my front tire (dunlop) , I'm positive that I could break in the 2:04 for sure.

But going faster that than , I would need some bolton (CAI/TP or HFC/exhaut) and a tune to get like 40hp more
then I think i would be really close to the 2:00 but not breaking it .

Remember I have the roadster which weight 3607lbs with 2/5 of gas tank w/o driver , I removed about 100lbs as of now .

I haven't managed to find an Accent to improve my times, but I'm satisfied with NX's times at the Long Track of 130.751 seconds or 2:10.751 (Hoosier R6 front/Hankook Z211 rear).

Yeeeeah, I was running Motomaster AM's that day. Think they are 155 width.
You can find them at Canadian Tire if you look hard enough.
