Default Things to do in Toronto

May drive up to Toronto for the weekend 8/16-8/18. Of course taking the Z.

I've been to Toronto a few times in the past, but all those times were with family so all we did was just eat and shop.

Will probably do the same things, but this time it's with the gf so I wanna show her a good time. So what are the best places to shop and to eat:

1) Chinese food (for me) I'm definitely hitting up some place for dumplings. What about dim-sum?
2) Korean food (for the gf)

Also which clubs/bars are the good ones?

Last, any meets happening that weekend?

Thanks!

for chinese food head around Spadina and Dundas, china town pretty much.

Korean food, either Yonge and Finch, or Bloor and Christie.

I wouldn't go chinatown for food...too dirty...

Head up to Markham or Richmondhill for the good stuff.

Korean - definitely Bloor/Bathurst & Christie, any Korean restaurant is good there.

sweet thanks for the tips so far. Anybody wanna have a meet in K-town?

What about bars/lounges/clubs? And shopping? I remember one place where it was like a big mall, except all the stores were itty bitty rooms and you had to walk up and down a bunch of aisles.

Dim Sum at the Metropolitan Hotel CANNOT be missed.

Panorama is great for the desert fondue with your chick. She'll be impressed.
Reserve an outdoor lounge table if you can.

Your thinking Pacific Mall..

-We have 2 "korea towns". (West end) Bloor&Christie. The other is located (uptown) @Yonge&Finch.
Most of the restaurants are quite good, but if your gf has a particular dish that she is looking for, let me know and I can recommend a few places.

-I would also avoid both old/new chinatowns, the area leaves much to be desired.
They do have a few good restaurants scattered around the downtown core, but I would also recommend visiting the Richmond Hill/Markham area instead.

Clubs/Lounges/Bars
-Toronto has a huge night life, so if you could specify what your interests are, most can recommend places from experience.

IMO, Pink Pearl @ the Queens Quay has some of the tastiest dim-sum in Toronto.
Its pricey, but well worth it.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Hmm....if you had to choose between west end korean town or up-town k-town, which would you choose? And which restaurant in particular?

I'll look up the dim-sum places you guys recommended also. I just remembered the dumpling place i went to last time was ding-tai-fung which is huge in Taiwan/Hong Kong

Yeah I forgot about the mushy stuff, even though the gf could care less about it if she gets good korean food. But if we were to go to a nice place, besides panorama what else is romantic?

As for clubs/lounges, our interests would be:

club - hip-hop music, dress code, good crowd (obviously)
lounge - somewhere you can chill with couches, listen to some r&b music, sip martini's
bar - no thanks

Last, any good places to go for walks at night? I dunno, maybe in the city, or next to a river or something?

Thanks!!

I just realized that you are arriving on the sunday.. so your "clubbing" options will be very limited. Unless you made an error and you are actually staying from the 15th - 17th..
If you are here on the saturday, you will have your choice of clubs to hit
Should be a few asian jams going as well (if thats your thing)

Korea town
-I would hit the west-end.. But it would also depend on whether or not you are comfortable driving around Toronto and its surrounding cities.
"Ji-Mi-Rak" is one of my favorite korean restaurants in the west end... they have some awesome "Ja-Jang_Myun"

I have always enjoyed late night strolls around the lakeshore areas..
-you can hit the beaches for some desert, then hit the Q-beach strip for a moonlight walk.
-you can have desert on college st (euro district) then drive down bathurst st to the lakeshore and walk around the queens quay area.
-hit cherry beach in the east end and you will have a fantastic view of the city skyline, all lit up.
-even do the typical tourist thing and walk around yonge/bay st(s) down to the club district...
-During the day, you can enjoy some drinks in yorkville (ritzy shopping district) then walk across bloor st and enjoy all the great shops.

I could go on.. but I should be working..

Oh and T.O is very 420 friendly.. if that interests you

awesome guys! Especially Reality350, this is exactly the type of info I'm looking for. Yeah I could look up yelp and top 10 best things but this beats it by far.

And yeah, I guess I put in the wrong dates, we're driving up Fri and staying till Sun. Haha Ja jang myun, my gf loves it. The koreans stole it from us (the chinese) -_-''

We'll definitely be driving around a lot, so if anybody sees a black Z with Michigan plates, it's me

Thanks again guys and if there's anything else I should hit up, please let me know! especially clubs for fri / sat.

Check out the CN tower if you haven't been there. It is pretty cool. Pretty easy to find as well ha
As for clubs, Brant house is good if your 25+ (only way you can get in), Hyde is a good club too. Just off King west of Spadina near Brant. Maro is good too. Musik I hear is good. Century is good as well. These are all "euro" type clubs. But nonetheless pretty good. And beware prices are a little steep. Have fun man!
