the demise of selene, my once faithful TT 350Z ...
[prepare for a long story ahead]
it all happened last november. i left my house at around 11 pm to top up air in my tires. the gas station was about 5 km's away so wanting to keep my tires from warming up, i was going (literally) 20 km/h on a residential road.
so i'm crawling along the road with no other cars in sight when all of a sudden this dumb bi*ch in an acura TL flies out of a side street, completely runs a marked stop sign and t-bones my passenger side fender.
she was clearly going in excess of 60-80 km/h in a 40 zone because the force of the impact spun my Z counter-clockwise and pushed me a good 20 feet towards the other side of the street
after t-boning my car, her car bounced off my passenger fender and careened towards the house on the opposite corner. she jumped the curb, demolished the street sign and landed just 3 or 4 feet shy of the front door
i can still remember the final moments before impact; driving along, turning my head to the right only to see headlights barreling towards me
my passenger curtain and side airbags deploy, got the wind knocked out of me and after a split second i'm stationary, disoriented and feeling a slight pain in my stomach area.
so i get out of my z slightly shocked, slightly in pain, but pissed
i walk over to the other car and started arguing with the driver asking her why she was driving so fast. she had the audacity to say that she wasn't speeding ... RIGHT, and i'm mother teresa
by now, the sound of the crash had caught the attention of what seemed like the entire neighbourhood and everyone came out to take a look (including the family of the house she almost drove into). within minutes 3 cruisers showed up, 2 fire trucks and 2 ambulances (may have been a little overkill if you ask me).
so one of the officer's who attended the scene took a look at the crash site and starts questioning the girl. apparently her initial story was that i was street racing/speeding and that caused the accident
she even called her family (who arrived shortly after) to back up her story.
since that clearly made no sense based on the force of impact or where our cars ended up, she changed her story. now apparently she stopped at the stop sign and accelerated REALLY quickly and somehow pushed my z 20 feet in the span of less than 5 feet of road
i suppose it *could* be possible that when VTEC kicks in, it's like a freakin' missile, but her TL was stock so that made that story implausible. in the end, she was charged with *something* (officer didn't disclose that to me) and both our cars were towed away after they cleaned up the mess she made.
here are some pictures for you visual folks:
here's the road where we hit, i'm going in the yellow direction, her in red.

here's a picture of the point of impact on the road. you can see where my z started leaking and the direction of travel.

another picture of where my z ended up

a picture of where her car ended up

a closer picture of where her car ended up (and also her dumb *** family and friends)

picture of the bi*ch and her family

and last, but not least, my damaged z

in case no one noticed it yet (and to add an eerie element to this accident), her license plate was "4 ZEE"

so that's the story of my z
we had a great 6 years from the first day i picked her up brand spankin' new at the nissan dealership in 2003, to when i twin-turbo'd her a few years ago, then all the cosmetics mods
as much as i should hold some ill will towards that girl for trying to lie her way out of the situation, i'm a firm believer that everything in our lives happen for a reason - both the good and bad. this is just one of those life events that forces me to move on and consider other things outside of my z and i'm thankful for that. i just hope that girl learns from her mistake and smartens up - especially when i know she lives in my area

Rip Z, what really kills me in side is that it has everything done to it including twins, really sorry to hear about the accident and i really hope she gets whats coming (or already came to her).
What are your plans now interms of next car and hopefully your/her insurance will cover 100% of the damage/write off?
Really good luck and once agian it does kill me inside seeing tastefully done up cars go to scrap yard because of other peoples carelessness.

I'm glad you are OK.
How stupid are her family trying to back up a lie, and then look really dumb when she changes her story.
Just out of curiosity, did you have full disclosure with the insurance company of all the performance mods you had?

i forgot to mention that insurance declared the car a write off after the body shop estimated the damage to be around 23k. there's obvious body damage, frame damage and the front right wheel is pushed against the well, so the front suspension is completely kinked. it's hard to see in one of the crash pics, but the side skirt flexed and cracked, so the entire frame flexed as well from the impact.
it took me a while to post this because i've been in negotiations with my insurance for the last 2 months and only settled on a write-off price last week. it wasn't what i was aiming for, but given my situation it was a fair price which included most of my mods.

I dont know but I heard most accidents take place within 5 min from home yet insurance costs more the further you drive to work each day.
This really sucks Rich but I'm glad you are ok. It does not look bad enough to write the car off from the pics to me? I guess the frame is bent?
I dont know what to say but it makes me feel sad for you and your Z.

My dad had something similar happen years ago. A guy t-boned him and tried to blame it on my dad. That's kinda like the "He rammed his face into my fist" situation.
Blows me away the ease with which people lie.
Glad you're OK though. Could have been uglier if you had gone a few feet farther.
