Dedicated track wheels
How would this set work out?

Volk CE28N, 18x9.5, +22
Pilot PS2 255/35 18 all round
Is this too little tire for a high HP application?

But I would recommend something wider up front anyways just to get rid of the little bit of understear the Z has.
I would hold out for something a little wider.

If the price is really good, you could pick these up and then get some 10 or 10.5" rears. I'd go at least 275/35 on the rear. If you're patient, you could eventually sell 2 of these here in the classifieds/marketplace.

I was under the impression that a square set up was the most desirable track configuration. Is that not true?
(I thought those would be too narrow.)
If you can run a 285 on a 9.5" rim, then what is the advantage of running wider? Won't this just add unnecessary weight?

Well running a 285 on a 9.5 is really an oversized tire for the application. This was actually hinder your handling and the sidewall won't be as rigid because it hangs outside of the lip.

Check out these guys Myles. https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...-shipping.html
They are in Michigan and the price is good, I've looked into them before.

A complete Enkei setup new from the US is only $1533 including shipping. Perfect offsets, perfect sizes, perfect condition, my choice of colour...
I think that'll be hard to beat.

I already have 19" Volk GT-C wheels for street use.
Thanks, though, those are great wheels!

The RPFs are hard to beat for value. Their new model is nice too.
Normally yes I would say go with a squared set up, but with 450+hp on the rear wheels I would put as much rubber as possible back there.
The reason for the squared set up is so that the front does not break first (understeer) and you have "equal" grip front/rear. However, you have 200hp more than most, so you need as much traction in the rear to actually use it. A 265/285 setup would be good on that 9.5/10.5 wheel combo. Are these going to be street tires on these? A 305 out back might even be worth fitting (on wider wheel of course).

Thanks for the detailed answer, GT-Rob. Exactly the kind of info I was looking for.
What's the widest tire that is recommended for the 10.5" rim? There has to be a point of diminishing returns on the weight:traction scale if I go to an even wider rim.
Will a 265 fit the front without rubbing? Mods needed?
Is the +15 offset frt/rr still the sweet spot?
For tires, I need (at this point, anyway) to stick with something that I can install at home and drive to the track. Thinking about RS3s. They seem to be generally accepted as offering the best traction around. I'm open to suggestions though.
Thanks!
