Default Need help with a chip

Hey guys, Im looking for a little help. My dad has a 04 350z, and im looking to get him a chip for his birthday. I figured id post something up here becuase you guys seem to be the expert on this type of stuff. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. If you need any more information on the car just ask. I believe he has the perfromace package... thanks in advance.

There is no "cip" on these cars..not in the traditional sense anyway. The ecu can be repprogammed via the Techtom software - there are a few places in the US that can do this for you. This requires you to either send the ecu to Technosquare (CA) or Altered Atmosphere (MD) (there may be a couple other places too but thats all I am aware of). For a more custom tune, you can drive to either place and they will do the flash on your dads car via a combination of dyno and road tuning. Contact each place (both are on here often) for rates, options, etc

thanks adam. His biggest concern is increasing the rev limitor.. he really hasent done much to the car so i dont know how important it would really be to custom tune the chip. Im amazed that theres no aftermarket chips for the car though, that is suprising. Is there some technical reason why there isnt?

main reason there are not more ecu options is lack of demand and the complexity of the ecu. As you might know, the Z ecu is a CAN based unit, and as such has control or input into virtually all aspects of the cars performance. Even with the reflashes, each flash takes about 18 minutes to download so you can see how a custom tune becomes a time consuming task (my car was on the dyno for 10-11 hours getting done!). TS and AA both offer a mail in flash that I think would net you the gains you want.

Also, check the production date. As of now only early 04 (with 03 production dates afaik) can be flashed though the 04 flash is around the corner
