Default Cold air induction

Just purchased a Fairlady Z Cold Induction System. It has a lot of pipe and adapters. From the picture it looks like it can be installed several ways. First up inside the hood placing the filter in a similar location to the OEM filter. Second with the additional pipe, down infront of the grill. No directions were include. Liability BS I am sure. But it does talk about gettin water in the engine. I have read several post about "valves????" to keep water out or something to that effect. I am very mechanically inclinded. Installation wont be a problem. Looking for advice from experienced people on mods. I love the car. I want to make it stand out farther than it does!!!!! I just want to make sure she looks and runs good forever, or as long as I can possible keep her. Any input from the experienced mod-ers would be greatly appreciated.

The "real" NISMO CAI comes with a water diverter valve, you can also purchase it with the AEM CAI I believe. It's designed to keep the CAI from sucking up water if you drive through deep standing water.

Do you have a link to site selling the one you have? I'm not familiar with the brand or model "Fairlady Z Cold Induction System"

Welcome to the site, you can find just about anything you want here related to the Z, especially mods. Use the Search buttom at the top of the page, it's your friend.

Sorry it is a Injen RD cold air induction. The fairlady Z is a name someone gave to the car and there is a ton of Fairlady Z logo's and accesories. I have looked online found plenty of pics to help with the install. The kit comes with a manifold cover, it is polished chrome. Judgeing by the pics I have seen it is either under the pipes or not installed???????

Aem makes the valve that ya'll are talking about. I used one on my injen intake I hade on my 240sx and It worked. My filter on the intake was in fornt of the divers side front tire and the valve was about half way in the piping. Theres not much to the valve but it works.

I modified my Injen intake to hook up to my stock air box. I kept bending the filter when removing it from underneath to clean it. I like the stock box better anyway....better heat shielding than other intakes with the filter under the hood. I did a bit of modification to the tube, but it works!!! I also used K&N breather filter for the crankcase.

ok Thank you all for your input. I put it on today. I did the Short ram style. Looks ggod was easy still have all the factory parts. I noticed the pipe was hot. I figured out where the manifold shield went but did not install it. The chrome pipes are hot, not to hot to touch but hot. Is this defeating the purpose of the CAI, or do you all have the same issue. How big a difference would the manifold heat sheild make.

My pipes are hot too cant escape that the engine runs hot thus metal piping will do the same. I wouldn't worry about it. My car runs like a champ with short ram air. Plus the sound I like everyone thinking i have turbo
