Default Post here if you lost power with mods.

I guess by the title you can guess that I lost or havent gained any power with my mods which are:

plenum
grounding kit
popcharger
test pipes
Injen true dual exhaust

I do have a 5AT and my Z was run in 4th gear for the 3 pulls I got. I dynoed at 226.47 HP and 223.73 ft/lbs. Attached is my dyno sheet from Z1 Motorsports in ATL. I exerienced a hesitation several times during the powerband that I cant explain. Also, there is a loop in my curves???

I thought maybe those of you that have experienced this could post in here and we could find out what is going on with the 5ATs. I guess, post your mods and what numbers you put down and what you did to correct the problem. ALso, post your dyno sheets if you have them. I have heard that I may have bad plugs, incorrect plug gaps or the ECU is pulling too much timing. By the way, I had 20002 miles on the Z when dynoed.

One of my main concerns is that I have spent over $2k on mods and am no more powerful than the day I drove off the dealership lot.

Thanks,
Zach

I can't answer from experience with the -Z-, only with other vehicles.

I have seen brand new vehicles with bad plugs, incorrect valve lash, seriously lean fuel mixtures, poor compression in one or more cylinders, torque converter slippage, improper timing, even brakes adjusted way too tight.

A good tuner or shop should be able to find your culprit.

Thanks for sharing that before posting your second dyno. Please Keep us posted on what you discover.

I've also got the 5AT and so far have only modded my exhaust with the Borla TD. I noticed a pretty noticable GAIN in mid to highend pull but seem to have lost a tiny bit of oomph before 3k. Maybe the popcharger?

thats really weird...i got those numbers when i was stock...now i make like 243 whp....with only 2 mods...pop charger and kinetix plenum....thats really weird though...through some fuel injector cleaner in, clean your plugs...ummm...change the oil...and do a basic overhaul on your car and change fluids everywhere u can...who knows, but it could be the dyno shop too....inaccurate #'s who knows but your car should definatley be putting down more power....next time u dyno u should dyno in 3rd gear with the 5at....4th gear gets going to fast and is very dangerous on the dyno...

I just had an oil change, about 200 miles ago. I changed from conventional to Amsoil syn. I only have 20k miles on the car.

I have had several people tell me that Z1's dyno puts out VERY low numbers.

The best results would be to use the same dyno you used originally. The dyno at Z1 is new so it couldn't be the one you used before. Now I will say I dyno'd 228 there with just a k&n filter, nismo exhaust and rt cats. No plenum as of yet.

This was the first time I dynoed my car. I believe the dyno machine at Z1 is not new. Atleast it doesnt look very new.

I don't mean to put you on the defensive or anything, I understand the frustration with all of the mods you have. Have you been to the track? That should give you a decent idea of how much power you are putting down compared to other Z's.

I'm not sure if a shop can move their dyno equipment from one location to another but the Grand Opening of Z1's new shop was in early October and from what I understood that is the first time they opened that dyno up to the public.

I dont think Z1 had a dyno before they moved to their new location. At least I did not see one the 2 times they did work on my car before.

It could be your a/f ratio. Its all over the place that line should be smooth. That may be why you have so much noise or static in your dyno curves. I'll see if I can find mine. But it should be much smoother. you should see if you can get your a/f ratio measured and corrected if its bad.
