Keep displacement as is, please. I'd like to see what VQ35 can do N/A w mods:
* cams/heads, porting/coating, TB, intake, plenum, headers, cats, cat-back, tilton/ATS clutch combo, light wheels, 3.9EVO, and TS ECU flash

EDIT: forgot high-CR pistons/rods

I'd expect at least what I'm making with FI, if not better.

a) I vote 4.0 mild-stroke.
b) mild over-bore + sleeves. Might be a little close here since the VQ is suspiciously thin-walled just like all the Honda motors.
-Need a volunteer on this one.

If you build the head right then you'll still have decent RPM even with the longer stroke.

+ more stuff
11.8 pistons or 12
arias pistons, or some other good ones
carrillo rods a-beam, or pweter rods
balanced crank + knife edged too
ported head
sodium filled valves
titanium springs.
Nismo cams
piggy-pack ECU
equal-length headers
-plenty of these around
ITB - individual throttle bodies + MAF sensor

+custom oil pan, unless this is for drag racing.

Another vote for NA. And please try to document as much as possible what change a mod produced. I'd love to see a reasonably price heads and cams package developed for the VQ35.

vote for NA, alot of people here already have some turbo beast.

I would love to see what a stroked and bored vq could do.

I'm about 200% sure my car isn't as fast as a FI car though I don't have ported/polished heads, high compression, or decent tires yet

I'm only making 300whp/280wtq with FI. I'm like, the low of the lows . I think it can be surpassed in N/A form nowadays...

Aebs says the stroker kit will take 8k so I think a 4.3 vq 11.5 comp ITB's would be a good start.

well Im sold on NA. We will be finalizing some things over with some venders and we will have a Base Dyno, 1/4, and road track run in January.

All Parts will be installed with in 1 week and then its back to the tracks and dyno for the Final test. I think this one is going to be called the REAL TRACK MODEL.

Suspension on the car will Be Hotchkis Springs, Sways, and Camber and Toe Rods.

Brakes are not confirmed but looking like Stoptech ST22 Rear Calipers and Stoptech 14" front Kit.

Wheels will be CCW 19x11 and 19x9.5 with some sticky tires if i can find them.

3.90 final gear, tilton carbon carbon, and ATR LSD for the drive line.

Motor is still up in the air and I will have more on that later on.

Greg

Tires - PS2's - 255/35/19 front and 295/30/19 rear

And I'm still waiting around for the following to be developed:

Head/Cams package made to work together
ITB Kit
Reflash made specifically for this

Greg, I FINALLY got my Injen exhaust in yesterday and got it installed this morning, so I'm good to go - I'll let you know how everything works out after my first test drive this afternoon! Thanks again!

I think the engine needs to be enlarged to 4.3L to make good power. I would rather sacrifice a little rev for more power and torque. V configuration engines are not built for high revs anyways, so why not make it slightly lower rev but with more torque. Who makes ITBs for the VQ? Can the stock ECU control the engine with ITBs? You'll need a real throttle instead of drive-by-wire. I think if you're building the ultimate N/A VQ, custom cams would be needed. All the current cams on the market are pretty mild, you need wilder cams, and if you decided to enlarge the engine, the cams on the market are not made for a 4.3L VQ. But I think 400whp should be attainable if you go all out. Here's my suggestions:

4.3L stroker kit
ITB's
Custom cams
JWT valve springs retainers
milled head to acheive 12.5+ CR (IIRC the N/A stroker kit is 11.8:1 CR)
Balanced rotating assembly
Standalone ECU that can control an engine with ITB's (HKS maybe?)
Titon Rally clutch/flywheel
3.9 FD

I agree 100% but to run independent TB's we will need to go to a Motec unit. This is not with in the price range of most people. We are going to try and stay with the stock DBW TB and ecu and go with a new sheet metal plenum. We thought about going to something similar to what your suggesting, but we want to try to make the power with out stroking the motor and a stand alone ECU to save costs. We also want to make this a daily driver package so 12+ Comp ration would be out of the question for anyone in Cali or NV with the gas they have. Its going to be interesting and it might not work out but we are going to try; better us to do the R&D then our customers.

It's still cool to see how it turns out, 3.5L should be decent for N/A, good luck and please keep us updated.

NA all the way! Hopefully some of the parts you use in the motor will make it into production for us customers if they make good power!
