Not all exhaust exits out the exhaust valves into the exhaust manifold, and out the tail pipe.

A small amount leaks past the piston rings and into the crankcase or oil pan.

In the late 1960's/early 1970's, engineers discovered that they could run a vacuum line from the intake manifold to the crankcase and suck these "blow-by" gases back into the engine and re-burn them in the combustion process. They also learned that by placing a negative pressure on the crankcase, that the engine ran more efficiently and cleaner.

On FI engines the blow-by gases (unfortunately) tend to be higher. The OIL CATCH CAN is placed mid-stream in the vacuum line to catch any large or heavy blow-by ingredients before they reach the intake manifold. If the blow-by gases have a unusually large amount of oil in them, it CAN reduce combustion efficiency. The catch can reduces this possibility.

Ideally, piston rings would seal perfectly and their would not be any blow-by. Conversely, too much blow-by is an indication that the piston rings are not sealing properly, resulting in lower compression and power levels.

I believe it catches the oil blow by from the intake. Its hooked inline with the hose comming from a valve cover going into the intake plenum.

Edit- what my man said. I stepped away in the middle of my response.

The greddy one is universal, and will require custom mounting or fabrication to fit, according to however you want to do it. The ARC one fits well, tightly, but nice. It has a few long hoses etc...
but the install should take 1-2 hours.
it's more expensive but is designed for our cars specifically.

If you want the Gready it is installed in the right side of the engine.... in the gap behind the head light next to the intake box''i'll send u a pic tommorow........

I have the ARC and I get the smell of gases sometimes throught the A/C vents......

The Gready has a second hose on the top were the gases are sent to the lower part of the engine and it dose not come back throught the A/C vent......

The gready is also a hole lot cheaper........

No need to drill everything is bolt on, it's real easy to due...it will take about 1.5 hr to in stall....

I'll send pic on were to install the gready.......on my car as i stated before has the ARC....

I went with the ARC due to the fact that it was made especially for the 350Z, but with regrets due to the smell of oil i get inside the car.....not much but enought to **** me off.......
