Complete ECU reset
Just disconnect the negative battery terminal for 24 hours? Will this work on 2004 models? Are there any CEL or airbag, etc lights that come on after the complete reset of the ecu?

Careful on doing this. It works on some cars, but not all. My production date is 7/04. People say that resetting the ecu by disconnecting the negative terminal will reset, or rather, put the car into a self-learning mode. But you have to also set the throttle, idle, etc for it. If you don't you could have serious problems. Technosquare couldn't help me when this happened:
My buddy has an 03, he reset and everythign went great (he was idling high and running too rich, etc.)
I reset mine and idled low, stalling on warm startups occasionally chugging. This was due to the ecu reset. Nissan set the idle air volume learning, etc for the car and now everything's fine. I also waited for a month for the Z to supposedly learn on its own, but the car still seemed "sick".

You have to do it with a stop watch, timing is critical.

When resetting the ecu, it says to stomp on the accellerator 5 times and then depress within 5 seconds. Does this have to be done at exactly one time per second?
I was in my car for like 10 minutes and gave up. I used a watch and counted the seconds, but no matter how hard I tried it felt like I paniced and was off by a half a second.
Any help? I'd like to see if this makes any difference on my z.

What us the benefit or reason one would want to do the other steps... listed below....
1. Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
2. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
3. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
