Yesterday, I switched out my Odyssey PC680 battery for a Braille B14115, which saved me another 3.5 lbs. The huge advantage of this unit is the higher crank amps and the ease of relocating due to its size. When I looked at the box that it came in I started laughing because two 1 dollar bills could cover it

You'll switch back to the Odyssey within a few months The Braile's are crap and die after a few days of sitting in the car. It'll work if you disconnect your negative terminal everytime you park for more than a few hours

Old Setup = 2 Corbeau CR1 Seats (26 lbs each) + 2 Corbeau mounting brakets (est. 5 lbs each) + 2 sets Corbeau 3" 5-Point Harnesses (est. 3 lbs each) TOTAL= est. 68 lbs.

New Setup = 1 Corbeau FX1 Pro Seat (16 lbs) + 1 Corbeau mounting bracket (est. 5 lbs) + 1 set Corbeau 3" 5-point harnesses (est. 3 lbs) TOTAL = est. 24 lbs.

TOTAL SAVINGS = est. 44 lbs!

I don't know what the savings would be from the stock seats, stock brackets, and stock seatbelts would be, but I know its more than what I just saved.

I think the stock (non-power) seats are something like 37 pounds each, Mike. The belts would add a couple more. Nice going! What do you estimate your new weight at?

Honestly I have no clue what my weight will be. The twin turbo setup added some pounds and so did the body kit. Gutting the interior should have shaved a few of those back off and the seats helped as well. Last time I got it weighed it came in at 3,240. I am hoping for 3100 and change. I also did a few more things to lighten her up and eventually will remove the Nismo spoiler and replace the hatch with a CF version and a lexan window. The door panels are also coming off soon.

I have had the Braille long enough to make a call now. For me, it has the same battery life as the Odyssey PC680 I had before and the benefit for me is that this unit is lighter. I no longer use a battery tie down since it is so small and just use 2 zipties to hold it in place

I have been following this thread for a long time now and have gotten alot of good ideas from it. I dont think that I will be going to the extent of carbon fiber doors like Mr. Rickdogg, but since it is winter here in Wisconsin and I am working on my car, I have come up with a few things to eliminate weight (to make up for the added weight of the turbo kit) and hopefully get slightly better weight distribution.

After reading this thread, I've been doing some looking around for what esle I can easily do to lighten my Z a bit more. One of the easy things seemed to be removing the rear wiper and motor (and yes, it was easy). I never use it here in Arizona anyway (heck, its been 102 days since we had rain!).

However, when I removed the rear under cover from the hatch I also noticed a black bracket in the middle of the hatch that was suspending a small black box (about the size of a pack of cigarettes). It seemed really unusual to me. The thing is plastic, but is suspended by a pretty stout metal bracket. Definitely intended to be isolated from vibration, as its mounted on four little rubber fingers to the bracket. I've searched through the parts list and also the shop manual, and can't find it. I have no idea what the heck this thing is. Anyone know?

Really? Just a weight? That's weird, since I already have a factory rear lip spoiler installed. Why does it need to be so isolated like that? Very strange if you ask me...

I guess since I am getting a carbon fiber wing installed, I can definitely remove the weight!

Remember this... A wise man once told me... Its not about finding one place to lose a pound is about finding 16 places to lose an ounce. Two bolts instead of three, plastic covers, carpets, gauges, seats, cardboard doors like Tommy Boy, for those drop top Z's out there, tear off the top and make it a roadster. See lots of ways to drop that unwanted weight. Sorry guys... I need to stop drinking while I type.

First time I have visited this topic I believe weight is over looked a lot in the performance world, a good example we have a shop car a CRX the first setup we had in it the car made 206hp the car weighs between 1500lbs-1700lbs the car went 12.8 in the quarter with its new setup on low boost the car did 300hp and went 7.5 missing 4th in the 8th mile which is mid to low 11s in the quarter, but I will tell you this when you get down to that kinda weight traction is a issue this same car on the street with BFG drag radials will spin through 4th gear, you also lose comfort and quietness below is a video of the car in the 8th you all can see how gutted the car is and yes it is a street car.

I think to end this thread someone needs to post a list of exactly how to get to a specific weight. Like Rickdog...your at 2800? How the hell did you do that, and was the performance gain worth it?

I know I don't have much of anything to contribute to this thread, but last night I was able to weigh my Z while I was at the track. With a half tank of gas, spare left in, me not in the car, passenger seat still in, stock everything except for a pro1 exhaust, the car weighed exactly 3200 lbs. Personally, to me it's worth the extra 400lbs to keep the car comfortable like stock. I would rather squeeze out more horsepower to make up for the weight. But then again, for my uses as my daily driver and only mode of motorized transportation, it fits my needs.
