There's a lot suggestions about removing audio system. But I just can't do that. I removed Bose and installed custom, hi-end audio. And I just can't imagine removing it to save 50lbs. What about you?

If your willing to gut the interior make your crash bars into Swiss cheese spend crazy money on dry carbon fiber and replace your glass with plexi, pretty sure you would be willing to lose the subwoofers...

But for daily drivers your probably not going to be willing to lose basic entertainment... I sure as hell wouldn't want to stick 2 huge *** subs in the hatch though.

Nah, I have just JL 8W3v2 (8") in my Z which is cheapest component of my audio. It's enough. I want high sound quality not a ghetto blaster. I considered JL W6 but it wouldn't fit without custom mount. IMHO not worth it. I have 12W6v2 in my E39 and it's an overkill. Bass is beautiful but to be honest I use 1/5 of it's power (excluding low low low low sounds and sine swipes)

Brian just posted about this in his build thread. The complete sound bar and cubby assembly can come out without the need to add bracing. If you remove the rear strut brace, you will need to add something in place of it to hold the structural integrity that the car has.

I think I posted this, then checked out his thread then asked about it because he mentioned it... I kinda wanna wait and see how his turns out with the carpet before I go all sawzall crazy...

Im sure his skills with making things look awesome when done are superior to mine but you know im trying not to get my wife too mad about my deconstruction... I told her its like a mullet car, business in the front party in the back... Pretty sure she told me to get my head out of my ***.

I am enjoying all the new sounds of the road, and my borla exhaust is finally sounding less disappointing...

Now if only I could remove some weight from the front of the car....

Yeah but its not readily available, I gotta drive into the hood to pick some up, and nobody wants to do that... Any idea how long dry ice will stay dry ice? Like 30minute car ride in a cooler? The heat gun is working ok, just slow.

I had a 10-15 minute drive and it was in a double paper bag - If you put it in a cooler I bet it lasts an 60 to 90 minutes ... ***** cold!

Dry ice should last in a cooler for an hr or two easy.

I found there was 3 different types of sound deadening in the Z.
Some removed real easy with dry ice.
Others was best with heat gun and scraper.

Wax and grease remover to finish up.

Out of curiosity, what did you do to keep the car from freaking out after you removed the dash? Seems it needs a resistor or something on the CEL cable to keep it from going into I don't want to run mode....
