Yes, I wondered that too. I guess the only way to know is to do some dyno runs and monitor the A/F. Please let us know what kind of results you get. Thanks.

here is the thing...

the way the runners are set up is to go along with the angle and height of the stock Upper plenum...

Unless the spacer raises the upper plenum so that angle doesnt change it might work...

Hehehe. Well that sounds good to me.

But still, there's nothing like a good dyno.

What is your lead time on the lower plenum?

Jason,

Thanks much for the pics. You can tell right away from the pics that the new lower plenum has more space before the runners. The yardstick thrown in was a good addition. So we know that the space before the runners are wider. What about depth? Is it any deeper? Doesn't look like it from the pics. If so it would probably be minimal. Looks promising though.

So you're thinking that in theory a spacer would might be better than a higher upper plenum when combined with the new lower plenum? Otherwise with a more even high rise upper plenum you could end up with an excess volume in front, yes?

I take it the old lower plenum didn't adjust to the angle of the upper plenum, right?

Thanks.

Depth is the same...

The opening for the runners is the same...

The old lower plenum and the new plenum have the same height and angle... the Upper plenum has always had the same angles...

If the plenum spacer is the same height all around it should work...

but I think it might just be too much space and the air will get too turbulant...

the the aftermarket upper intake plenums there was a different sound... the wooot... caused from too much space with the air tumbling around in the plenum... if you were to add this along with an upper intake plenum the air may be harder to suck into the runners...

almost in a way like the cold air intakes dont perform as well as the pop charger...

I had to add 2 new studs to the cost of the install kit...

They are $20 each!

So... now the kit is $49.95... I will do the kit for $34.95 for forum members...

Until there's a proper dyno I know this is all speculation but, do you think this new lower plenum combined with the stock upper plenum will be able to yield gains similar to people who have installed an aftermarket plenum/spacer?

Will you be changing in or out the mod while on the dyno?

Jason is out dynoing his car as we speak, doing the base dyno today. tomorrow we'll have it installed on his car, and then we'll byno it again for you guys later in the week. If i was a betting man, I'd put more faith in this than any spacer out there. We are also going to get another plenum in for me, and i'm going to polish it like i did with my upper plenum, so that the inside is smooth all around, for better air flow. This is gonna be one of the mods that everyone wants.....

I would be very curious to see the gains of this plenum with an aftermarket top plenum like the crawford.
I'm wanting to talk jason into getting a third dyno session in with the crawofrd plenum on with this new lower portion...........

Hi Tony,

If you want, let me know when you plan on doing the third set of dynos. I am relatively local to you. We could also dyno a plenum spacer on the same lower plenum.

It would be a rare opportunity to see how all the plenum mods stack up against eachother.

Tony

How about a dyno with a Kinetix plenum too?

I'd like to set up a flow bench shoot out, now that we have all of these options. I would like to rent my shop's flow bench for a whole day and do as many comparisons as possible:

Original Stock
Original Stock with Spacer
New lower plenum
New lower plenum with Spacer
Kinetix
Kinetix w/Spacer
Crawford
Crawford w/Spacer

and the rediculous...

Crawford w/new lower w/Spacer
Kinetix w/new lower plenum w/Spacer

I'd need people to loan me some of these parts, and maybe help out with the cost of the flowbench.

Anyone Interested?
