This thread is one of the reasons that the Internet is a good idea.

My friend and I were looking at this thing, and mocking it the other day.

Our conversation became:
"Do you think it could do something? I mean, at least something benign, maybe give your car higher resistance to a HERF gun, something?"
"You're the EE."

From their description, I was actually assuming it was a big capacitor! That would jive with their "Smooths out power fluctuations" claim (but still wouldn't improve your car worth squat).

Good to know it's just a highly obfuscated chunk of snake oil.

Seriously, great work.

I love it when the scientific method wins.

Igor, I must say "well done".

When you founf out what was going on yuo really stepped up. Good job.

I just wanted to point out a couple of little things to help people on the future. (This is for the future...)

1) I felt it. This is called placebo effect. There is no shame in falling for it. Placebo effect is so powerfull that ANYONE can be subjected to it. It is how the human mind works. In fact drug tests must be DOUBLE blind because even if the dr/nurse giving the medication has expectations it will affect how the patient repsonds. (ie the patient suffers placebo effect based on the expectations of the care giver!)

People who consider themselves smart or scientific often make the mistake of thinking they can see past this effect. They can not. It is too deeply ingrained/natural in the human brain.

2) 2hp is within the noise margin on any dyno. Even when there are no changes at all the to car there are variances of more than 2hp. Also, later runs tend to be higher due to warming up of the tires/oil/etc.

I am not flaming anyone (and certainly not flaiming igor). I just wanted to post these things since this type of product will come around again and again. (splitfires / tornado / gas magnets / etc)

Thanks Andy.

There is not much room to argue the placebo, although I stick with my statement of I felt it Will (UnderPressure) here on my350z test drove my car with and without the DPS back to back, and also noticed the smoothness, describing the effects being similar to a 'quality grounding kit.'

The weird thing is though - the HP gains were consistent.
And look at this:

I am thinking that the extra ground is capable of making this kind of difference.

Hi Igor,

But is this test car already grounded with earth grounding kit in the first place?

Or is the DPS's grounding effect cumulative together w/ the earth grounding kit?

If it is the latter, maybe you should keep the 1st grounding kit, then use extra cables to create more grounding points. In short, your car isn't grounded enough in the first place.

No, my car does not have a grounding kit, so the effects I was feeling were due to the extra ground the DPS was providing.

No wonder why DPS sort of trashes grounding kits on their website: Direct Power System USA - Compare and contrast . Cos' once you ground your car, DPS's effect may be minimized.

I am putting together a "DPS is a scam" website for those of you who would like to spread the word about this hunk of trash. Stay tuned.

The website will be going offline as soon as I am able to get in touch with them. K&G in Japan is who had us fooled, not the guys here in the US.

I have contacted a number companies selling this product and told them that it is a scam with a link to this thread for proof. One guy already responded thanking me and that he had removed the ability for people to purchase the DPS until he read some more about it.

Power to the people!!!

If this thing does ANYTHING at all, it's nothing compared to the Continuum Transfunctioner.

Default My crusade

As you go about your day on the internet.

If you happen to post on other automotive forums please make a post with a link to this website.

http://dps_is_a_scam.tripod.com

It's a small little website I threw together to make it easier to spread the word about the DPS product.

It's hard for one person to spread the word about this, but with the help of other members of this website and your associations with other forums, we'll be able to get the info out and people who've already purchased the product can demand refunds.

I'll update the website as I get more responses from some of the companies currently selling this product. I'm not gonna publish the company names yet until I find that they have ignored my emails and decided to sell the DPS product anyways, knowing full well it's a scam.

The only way we can truly stamp out this product is by getting the word out.

Please take a little time out of your day to do so. I've done my part, now it's time to do yours.

Regards,

Jesse English

I posted your website on the SRT forums, I know there is some heartache between us and Neon's but hey, we're all family on this issue.

Wish we could get it on "60 Minutes" or "20/20" or something like that. Don't they have a "consumer alert" segment or something?

Jesse, let me be the first (okay, not the first) to say, good job!!
