Default What performance mods do you "REGRET" doing?

Whether it be spending too much money on a mod with no gain or just a nightmare mod that was pathetic. Lets here it!!!

Remove factory resonated pipe, or install test pipes. Many people install test pipes and removed them later due to raspyness of the exhaust sound.

the injen CAI, i should have just gone for the JWT popcharger and used the money elsewhere, i just got it when it came out so i paid 275 for it. but i did get smarter after that. DC sport headers are a good choice and the crawford plenum is also incredible.

I regret buying an AEM intake. It didnt work well with the Crawford plenum, I didnt see gains until I swapped in the Pop-charger.

Top speed headers are almost identical and even cheaper than dc sport.

i used to regret my tilton at one point, but just got my ECU back from technosquare with my idle set to like 1200 or 1300 rpm and it drives much nicer - sitting idle it doesn't sound like a broken diesel truck anymore, but instead sounds meaner with the higher idle. Screw gas mileage hehe

i bought a SPL intake and it's way longer than stock. I understand that's part of the deal, but with my koyo radiator - there just isn't room for the pop charger and so i ended up hacksaw cutting 2 inches off - then i was able to get it to fit, but the sealers around the throttlebody are extremely tight and hard to tell if it's properly on the TB all the way. The angle where the tube curves is different than stock - more of an angle instead of a curve.

Anyway, pissed that i bought it, it's stting on the workbench

I got a Topspeed exhaust for cheap from a shop here in Tampa. It sounded like complete *** with the silencers in. I took them out and it sounded pretty good until you actually had to drive it on a daily basis. It was so loud I took it off and bought a fujitsubo.

Huh I though I was the only one that raised my Idle that high for the Tilton.....Isnt it nice to sound like a Z again...LOL and you can take off without the gas pedal after practice.....

I still hate the squeal though......

Performance for a squeal... debatable

I regret the Crawford plenum and STB. I noticed no gains from the plenum and the STB is a POS. Its rediculous how much you can flex the thing with your hand. Its like a wet noodle.

Agreed. The crawford strut tower bar is a joke. The bar is very flimsy and I doubt it does anything to increase the torsional rigidity of the car. The plenum, however, makes a big difference at high RPM.

you sure on the plenum? After the UR Pulley mod, the plenum is the 2nd best mod I've ever done that can be noticeable...
