Default Highly tuned N/A Zs. What 1/4 mile and 0-60 times are you running

Hi all. I am trying to get an idea of what other cars my Z can compete with once it has reached the height of normally aspirated mods.

Right now I have JWT intake, Borla, UR Pulley and AA Plenum spacer. I am wondering roughly what kind of performance category I'll be in after I install HF cats, headers, JWT clutch/flywheel, and then finally shorter final drive.

I would say this question is particularly directed at Javi who is putting out 296 whp. I would estimate he is breaking the 5 sec markto 60 and hiting very low 13s or high high 12s.

But hey lets hear from all you fellas who are at 270 whp or above. I am wondering if it is worth my time and money to continue modding. Thanks.

Mods Please don't move this to track. This is actually an engine question which is esentially asking if I should continue modding.
Thanks

I'd like to know this as well. If I had to guess, I'd say high 12's should be possible, especially with the addition of cams and the 3.9 final drive.

High 12's with slicks, low to mid 13's with DR's or a god launch on street tires with bolt-ons.

13.3 here. I've got Tilton, 3.9, TS ECU, Test Pipe, Y-pipe, Crank Pulley, Coilovers and wider tires. Dynoed 263. The 13.3 was on completely bald Toyo's in 40 degree weather. I've got some stickier tires now, so I'm heading out to the track as soon as it opens. Hopefully the high 12's are possible with just the above list and R-compound tires.

To give you an idea, the new 05 Vette gets a 12.7 (according to Car and Driver). So a 13.3 on garbage tires is great... Id say you could drop it as much as .3 secs. On a road course I dont think the Vette would have a huge advantage in power.

I am turbo now, but when I was N/A.. My best 1/4 was a 13.1 @ 104 with these mods.
XERD full lenght headers, Borla Exhaust, Injen CAI, UR PUlley, and a SMT6 piggyback computer... That was with 275/40/17 DR's and a Nismo LSD.. And a 1.78 60'

I'm NA right now and consistently trapping out a 103.9x MPH with just an exhust. I can run 13.5' on stock stire "if" i get a good 60'. And am dreaming of drag radials, but am determined to get down to 2.0's on stockers.

With that said, I don't see why you can get into the high 12's with very good driving ability and all of the mods you have listed. Don't forget to do some weight saving too!!

I try... but have you seen burger king's new breakfast sandwich?! And that sucker stays in your colon for quite a while. :P Seriously though, what is a good weight saving item for the Z that isn't rediculously expensive? I hear the hood is lightweight stock so no need to change that... And dry carbon fenders are in the thousands ;_;

LOL!

Lightweight battery (-20+), light weight rims (unpsrung weight), no extra stereo quipment, loose the spare and any loose carpeting (-30+lbs), you probably saved some weight on the exhaust (i save 37 lbs), RSR makes Ti lowering springs that can save another 10lbs, racing seats...and then you start getting more expensive. I hear some aftermarket cats will shave a few pounds. Alway run just at a 1/4 tank of gas. There are a few threads that go into a lot of detail.

And of course driver weight...I weigh 165lbs, so that works in my advantage too.

100lbs of static weight = around .1 sec. Saving unsrprung weight will net you a bit more.

And I don't know what you have done for tires, but they will make or break your 1/4 also.

About two weeks ago, I tried to make some runs in the 1/4 mile. Just when I was making the car inspection, the guys at the track spread bite (you know the liquid that they put to make the slicks even stickier, I don't know how its spelled) all over the lanes just before the lights. What happened? 1st gear just didn't hook up at all, I mean it was ridiculous, 2nd gear was worst than 1st, and just when I thought the car finally got some traction, when I shift to 3rd I almost hit the wall because of the lack of traction, I mean it was absurd, I had to let go of the gas pedal through all the gears in order to hook up and not hitting the wall. My times? With a 2.6 60ft 13.90@104mph I don't know how I even managed to hit 13's even less how I hit 104mph!!
Anyway, there is a guy who has everything I have in his 03 Z that with slicks made 12.8@108mph NOT saying my car can do the same, but you get the idea... I WILL try to get me a set of sticky tires and try out the 1/4 mile.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I am not really interested in dragging, but I am just trying to decide How fast I can get my car. I will probably end up auto xing sometime soon though.

My main goal is to get my car as quick as the new 911 carrera S. I want to be able to say that I spank 911s! Apparently this is within my reach NA.

This is my sixth day with the AAm plenum spacerand it is very inspiring. It has changed the car in a big way. it definitely did give me 10 to 15 whp as advertised. I now inspired to spend more money on mods. After my body kit goes on, it will be time for HF cats.

BTW Zillinois, I highly reccomend you get that plenum spacer. With the great mods you have I think it would break you into the 12s!

The new 911 carerra S is pretty fast. A couple of mags got its 0-60mph in 4.1 sec with the quarter in mid to high 12's. Thats pretty darn fast and you may need to go FI to achieve that on street tires. Its not impossible though...

I've been eyeing up that spacer. I didn't realize they made so much hp. Seems like a no brainer mod. Just a few days to go until the track opens!

Probably not if you already have an aftermarket plenum, but I could be wrong. Can anyone verify this?

Yeah. I'm going the N/A route myself. I'm hoping to hit high 12's. I think one of the best mods you can do right off the bat is replace the stock tires with some quality rubber.
