Default I am in COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISBELIEF!!!

Okay, after reading all this stuff about grounding kits, I am convinved that these things are complete B.S. Just an expensive colored wire rice-out-your engine-bay scam. So then a friend of mine with a G35 says he installed a set and it made the engine much smoother. He's pretty reliable so I say what the hell.....at worst, my engine bay will look a little flashier. Well, I ordered the Z-xtreme set in blue. Came in a few days. Beautiful pieces. Hooked it all up in about 45 min.

I start the car....WOW!! HUGE difference in smoothness at idle. Took the car for a nice run. Smooth, smooth, smooth. I simply can not believe hooking up these few wires in the configuration outlined can make that much of a difference, but it does. To me, the difference wasn't subtle either. Money well spent.

april fools?? or not? i have a grounding kit just sitting in my room that i never installed. maybe i should add it to the summer to do list...

Guys at the shop where I dyno'd said they will make you loose power if anything. Seriously! Said something about a closed grounding loop or something and were completely serious about it.

I can't comment on that statement. However, go drive a grounded and ungrounded car back-to-back. You'll enjoy driving the grounded one much more. Guarunteed.

I'm about to swap to the HKS kit, as my idle actually got worse after adding my current one (I forget the name of the company, but its the one lots of members here have).

These have different effects on different people's cars in my experience

I also agree. My grounding kit smoothed out the idle and the rev. It also looks great and was fun to install.

Now as for LOSING POWER?? Those shop guys are full of S. There is no logical way that would be the case. It can only help the engine.

I always wondered why auto manufactures won't just build those in. Are they really concerned about cutting cost that they wouldn't throw these in?

When these first came out, I was in the same position as you. I actually made my own expressly to be able to say they don't do anything. Well, I too was really surprised at the smoothing of the higher RPMs that occured.

I have the Nismo one now, but the $40 DIY ones work just as well.

hey guys...forget what you heard..everyone who has used it has noticed a much smoother idling engine...it was for me and i have the hks kit....really can tell the difference when you start her up.

hey guys...forget what you heard..everyone who has used it has noticed a much smoother idling engine...it was for me and i have the hks kit....really can tell the difference when you start her up.

Well, in my case, the grounding kit has made idle decidedly worse, but hopefully the HKS will cure it...I am going to play around wtih different points as well

I bought them an noticed a smoother idle and when the air came on. The only complaint i have is the colored wire tends to dis-color after about 4 months.
