Default A lighter Z, but at waht cost? Professional Opinion?

I have scanned many threads on making the Z lighter...but I can't find that REALLY large thread about making the Z lighter. I've done a couple searches, to no avail.

Anyways, 52/48 is an excellent weight distribution. Has anyone actually lightened the Z without messing with the balance of the car. I'm not only taklking about front to back, but left to right. What if you make the passenger side lighter than the drivers side? Or one corner lighter than the other?

I know suspension setup and corner weighting helps alleviate this, but an even Z without having to corner weight is probably in everyone's best interest just to make things easier (and cheaper, because coilovers are EXPENSIVE!).

So, do we have any knowlegeable/professional opinions on this? Making the Z lighter CAN be a pretty inexpensive way to "mod" the Z when it invloves throwing some stuff away :P I'm getting new rims and tires, which should save some weight. I will be auto-xing my Z again this summer just in case anyone is curious.

Thanks for the input,
Phile

p.s. what's a good brand lightweight gel battery?

All interior
Sound Deadener (Dry ice is a big help)
Lighter Battery (Odyssey or Baker are good choices)
Spare Tire
Tools
Lexan Rear Window
Siphon out washer fluid
Remove All unnecessary plastic and rubber in engine bay
Test Pipes (Cats are heavy)
Headers
Lightweight Pulleys
Clutch and flywheel
CF Hood
Windshield Wipers (Take off at track)
Rims and tires
Remove radio or buy lighter head deck
Titanium exhaust (muffler is heaviest portion, piping is for hardcore)
Bucket Seats
Cut out unnecessary metal in doors (hardcore)

Just some ideas, I am sure you can do more. If you are hardcore, you can even seam weld the whole car

Here's an 8-page thread regarding the subject. However, I don't think it has answers to all your questions. But maybe if you ask your questions there (or ask a mod to merge with it):

That's the thread I was looking for! BUt my main question still goes unanswered. I think one of the guys from 350EVO (who's company has a race car) would be able to comment on keeping the Z balanced not just from front to back, but from left to right. That's mostly what I'm interested in. I recall him saying that they got their Z down to 2900lbs and it wasn't easy :P
