so ~5k for the itb. then ~3k for the standalone. do you think you could gain 10-20hp with this mod? sounds a little pricey!

The more aggresive cams you have the bigger the reward. Other cars with tunned intakes (eg CAIs) can get another 20-40hp by going to ITBs. There's a lot of power to be had, the trick is in the tunning, it's very difficult.

This doesn't seem like a mod you'd do to an engine that only has minimal work done to it, this seems like one piece of the puzzle. Perhaps a 3.8L or 4.3L Z that already had a standalone, cams, porting and headwork, etc. might be more in line to get the extra kick of ITBs.

i read somewhere once that the tommy kairra ITB's made like 30-40whp, but maybe that was just speculation?

I agree, this isn't a simple bolt on item

you'd probably also be doing high compression pistons, aggressive cams, headwork, possibly stroker kit, upgraded fuel system, and standlone EMS if you were doing this

you dont have to do anything except tune the car right. It would benefit more if you had other work done, but its not a must. I personally cant wait for a set to be made.

should b interesting, but it already sounds like the cost outweights the benifits. around 5k for it plus another 5k in other mods to get the most out of it? what are the TT's going for nowadays?

it shouldnt be anywhere near 5 g's! that price is from a very expensive japenese tuner company. everything they make is super expensive. I recently seen a kit for the s2000, it required some modification and tuning but was good for 40 plus horesepower! I think it was less than 2 g's

Im guessing that the cost is bc of the electronics involved. wont each throttle body need a MAF sensor? each sensor is probably like $500

unless it's designed to use 1 maf sensor in one of the middle throttle bodies and assume the other 5 are running similar

Usually all the throttle bodies connect to a vacuum chember to which you connect a MAP sensor. That is why you need an aftermarket ECU. Also I think it would be next to impossible to tune the ITBs with our stock ECU. You could use a MAF if all the throttle bodies connect to a single plenum and you would run MAF of the plenum. I think that's how BMW M3 is setup.

i think the stock ECU's emissions regulations would just override any power you make anyway without an EMS

Without a reflash or piggyback or standalone, you will run lean. The stock ECU is going to use the knock sensor and (on 2004.5's+) wideband to determine A/F ratio (wideband) and ignition timing (knock sensor), it won't change the fuel maps after mods. It would be great if it would though. So, it will continue using the 3 fuel maps that the ECU developed over time, therefore it will run dangerously lean unless you adjust the fuel maps that the ECU is using (whether interception style (piggyback) or actually changing the fuel maps the stock ECU uses (reflash) or developing your own maps, timing, and etc. (very complicated, standalone).
