Running in - How long?

Default Running in - How long?

I am oin the UK and will be taking delivery of my Z this week, what is mrequired in the way of "running in"?

manual says 1200 miles. common sense is that it takes about 500 miles, then change the oil. most of the breaking in of the engine is in the first 50 miles.

OEM motors break in very quickly. There are numerous theories on what consistitutes a proper break-in. IMHO, just drive at 1/2- 3/4 throttle max to about 4500-5000rpm for about 500miles. Change the oil, and be done with it.

There is likely more risk in driving it too gently, rather than pushing it too hard during the break-in process.

With a new built motor, there is more ritual involved with break-in, but with a fresh OEM motor, it would be difficult to mess up the break-in.
