Default My Koyo Radiator from Z-1 is here!

So my radiator was fatally wounded while installing my Stillen supercharger a few days ago and my car has been sitting since. Being very anxious to test out my new power my search for a new radiator began. It was a short search beacause Adam at Z-1 had Koyo radiators for the Z in stock. My order was placed on Monday, went out Tuesday and arrived Today! Now THAT is great service. I can't wait to get this sucker on and see what the car can do.
Thanks again to Adam and Z-1.

As someone who lives in a hot/humid climate the majority of the year, I've been thinking about this for a while. Please let me know how the install goes (fit&finish, etc) and what the benefits are. I understand the benefits of greater cooling capacity in theory, but I'm interested to know how well this radiator deals with them in reality.

No problem, I will be installing later on today when I get off work so I will let you know how it goes.

Well I installed the Koyo last night, man that thing holds alot of fluid. Took the car out for a test run after the install. After several WOT passes with the newly installed Stillen Supercharger (which is bad azz by the way) the temp gauge was chillin' right where it always does at normal operating temperature. I would deffinately reccomend the Koyo. Finish is beautiful and the fit is good as well. Had to trim some of the plastic near the bottom clips but no big deal. Thanks again to Adam @ Z-1 Motorsports.

HankVQ, What Stage did you get 1,2 or 3? I have the Stage 1 and will be installing a Intercooler to take it to Stage 2. I am also going to install the Koyo. I haven't bought either yet but I am still researching the best Radiator and thinking of ungrading the thermostat.

wht does your idle oil pressure look like after several WOT runs with stable coolant temp?

I am real curious cuz I observed oil pressure loss after several WOT runs ( heating up the oil significantly but still within specs for idle oil pressure) yet coolant stayed stable ( as far as I could tell )

perfectly normal - oil thins as it heats up, while water temp is regulated by the thermostat. Assuming you have the right amount of coolant in the car and the mechanicals are in good working order, it should never over heat

I hjave forced induction.
in WOT runs I know the oil sees a LOT of extra heat, and thins out accordingly, but my coolant temp gauge stays stable.
I added RWW to improve the uptake of heat into the coolant and thinned it out some as well, but havent driven it hard enough since then, to obersve any improvement.

I have the stage 2 and the stage 3 pulley is on the way. Would have just bought the stage 3 but needed the CARB legal kit for Cali. smog. The Koyo is a quality unit for sure. For the price I don't think you can beat it.

I haven't noticed any abnormal oil pressure reading but I will keep an eye on it.

In the absence of an oil temp gauge ( not super expesnive to do but not dirt cheap either) I check by flipping into neutral waiting for idel to stabilize at normal idle speed and then comparing the oil pressure gauge with my normal heated-up-but-not-WOT'ed-a-lot value.

One time I saw it well below ie the oil had thinned out (no fault of the oil at the time 5w-40 Syntec now 10w-40 Redline and I might go thicker) to a value that <appeared> to be less than 70% of its normal value.

Of course our oil pressure gauges arent perfectly linear, so its difficult to draw exact conclusions on oil pressure but clearly the oil was <hot>
