I believe that's the word Tomai blurred on the right.

Those are Tomei 268 cams. Very impressive, what additional parts do you need to run these cams reliably? What is your performance mod list if you dont mind sharing? Oh and how much were they?

What is the install going to run? Install cost is holding me back from doing cams.

I also got Nismo high-lift springs with them (apparently, the tomei springs are just rebadged Nismos)... my engine builder will have to spec the lifters once we get going on the build (i'll have to buy those then). Kind of expensive, but I paid $1800 for the cams, the nismo springs, and express air-mail from japan.

Current mod list:
Tilton FW/C
350evo 3.917 R&P
Cusco RS LSD
U/R pulley set
jwt pop charger
crawford cast plenum
ultimate racing cats
nismo exhaust
HP+ pads, SS lines, ATE fluid

I'm doing the install at the same time I'm building the bottom end of the engine, so it shouldn't be much additional maybe a couple hundred bux. If you do them on their own, expect about 8-10hrs. ($600 at my shop) in labor.

Cams are going in with the pauter rods, arias pistons, ARP hardware, and the ATS clutch/flywheel -- looking at a greddy kit w/ the additional safety bits (baffled & oversize oil pan, shielded CAS wire, return fuel system, etc...)

It will be interesting to see how these cams do with FI when you go that way. Typically, an aggresive NA grind is not very FI friendly. My bet is you would have been better off with the Tomeis that are a step or two down from thesefor an FI build. For built NA, the 268s should be great, tho!

yeah the reason that I got them is that they've got equal intake and exhaust durations, which should bode well for FI applications -- but the proof is in the pudding so to say

it's going to be a bit before i can get them installed, but i just couldn't resist posting something (trying to get some feedback on others who may have them)

Default Lsd

Machupo:
I noted you have a Cusco RS LSD.
How do you like it.
How noisey is it for street driving?
What setting are you at?
What fluid do you run?

I'm considering wither this LSD or the new ATS carbon.

The first time I hopped in the car with it and drove around, it was noisy as heck (clunk clunk clunk), but after doing about 50 figure 8's in a parking lot, going back and swapping the fluid, it quieted down quite a bit -- it's on 2-way right now and I run Redline MT-90 in it. You'll only really notice the clunking at low speeds going around sharp corners (or if you're creeping in a parking lot). Of course, with the tilton already on there, it isn't much of an increase in noise

I personally love it -- even with the VLSD, my Z's *** end was always kicking out under hard acceleration and the steering didn't inspire confidence in hard turns, but it's all great now
