reflashed ECU
My question is how would you tell if a previous owner reflashed the ECU? Here is my story....
I bought my Z on Feb. 28 of this year. Its an 03 track edition with 20,000 miles. Perfect condition. When I walked around the car I immediately noticed the nismo exhaust. When I raised the hood I immediately noticed the nismo strut tower bar, and the grounding kit. It was starting to get dark so I couldnt see much else. I drove the car home that night after the deal was all said and done. The next day I put the car on a lift. I noticed the nismo headers, s-tune suspension and nismo sway bars. Needles to say I was happy about the upgrades that had already been done to my car (and the fact that the dealer didnt try to hike the price up because of them. Non Nissan dealership, pretty sure they were clueless). So I took the car to courtesy nissan about 2 weeks after I had purchased it. I asked them if there was any way for me to tell if any internal or ECU work had been done to the car. They said there was no way for them to tell. So I forget about it until I was reading about getting the Techno reflash. I see that if you have the reflash then you get an additional 500 rpm out of your motor. After further research I find out there is a rev limiter at 6600 rpm on our Z's. Having never hit the rev limiter I figure I will give it a try and that should tell me if I have a reflashed ECU. So Im in second on my way to 6600 rpm's. At 6600 I have a flashing light but no rev limiter. I get to about 7000 and decide not to chance it until I know what I have. So is there anything that I can do to verify that I have a reflashed ECU?
Thanks!

Remove the ECU as per Techno's instructions on their website and look for a Technosquare sticker on the ECU... They always put one on when reflashed.. FYI..

you got best deal ever!!! God I'm jealous...
BTW even if it was reflashed, there is nothing to worry about. If you plan on doing other mods, Instead of getting another reflash, get a piggy back.

It's used, so it's already broken in. Just run it to redline and watch the RPMs. It sounds like it's flashed based on the fact that you broke 6600, but finding the rev-limit will tell you for sure. You won't hurt it.

Yeah, I was definitely lucky with this car. I wont tell you what I paid for it cause that would **** you off even more :P. I have thought about trying to find the previous owner but I have no idea how I would go about doing that. Anyone know?
if you're down here in cali and they do the reflash they won't even touch the ECU, they hook up via the odbii connection so no sticker unless you mailed it to them.
and yes based on you being able to go above 6600 says it's reflashed

I had the car dyno'd about three weeks ago and while the car was on the dyno the rev limiter was kicking in at 6800 rpms every time. I was also getting all kinds of errors and every damn warning light that the car has went off, however the car drove fine and as soon as I reset the ecu everything was ok. however since that time I havent been able to get the car above 6800 rpm's. I havent had the time to pull the ECU to check for stickers or anything yet. I will be installing my crawford plenum hopefully this weekend and will probly check it then.
